I found I had some low scores for postage, and couldn't understand it as I never go crazy on the extra for postage. I had one unreasonable buyer (didn't read the listing properly then left neg fb!) so I'm guessing that was one of them, but I thought overall it was a bit harsh as, like you merrymary, I only add around 20p or so to the postage cost (which I think is fair enough to cover packaging on top).

Anyway, to try and counteract the low postage scores, I tried to charge pretty much cost-price on my last couple of items, only to find I'd underestimated one of them so had to post at my own expense! Rubbish. That annoyed me. Luckily the item went for more than I expected otherwise I would've been out of pocket!!

I think, unfortunately, some buyers just have unrealistic expectations and when you add an extra 20p to cover your *packaging* they think it's overpriced. One of the pitfalls of ebaying I guess?!

I know the feeling _sleepless_. Sometimes you really can't be bothered. But I'm starting to get back into it, will be listing my scheduled ones tonight to end on Sunday.

Do any of you know if there's a way of knowing who's left you a low star? I'm disappointed to find out that I got one on p+p. I have about 5 to choose from and I think I've narrowed it down to 2 but can't be sure. I have positive comments and no mention of high postage. I think it's about 60p on top of the actual postage, is that too much?

Merrymary - on the ebay board there is a thread (somewhere!) I read it last week - that explains how to find out who left the low star.........sounded quite complicated! Absolute pain. I think the advice to counteract it is to offer free P&P for a little while (add the P&P into your starting price).... Not always possible I know :)
  • Thanks guys! that's the thing you need to add at least 40p on p+p to cover both fees on a 99p item. If it sells at 99p, which most of my item does, I only get 63p. I'm fine with that. I think I'll do that next time sophiasmum free p+p on all items in the next FLDs :)

will have a look in the ebay thread this evening and investigate. need to pack 3 items and post later.

Have a lovely day everyone! It's looking nice outside :)

you're obviously not where I'm from... it's dull and awful here.

I still have 4 listings within descriptions or photos. I think I might pull them down as I'm not sure I can be bothered :o

More bids on my items through the night, so up to £52 now  This never usually happens - normally all the bids (if I get any) come in right at the last second.

Most of my items end on Sunday too. The children's shoes seem to be attracting lots of attention. The eldest's school shoes went on for 99p and are now sitting at just under a tenner with 2 days to go.

I have more stuff to put on but like many others I lost motivation. Will make sure I get it done over the weekend so it can go on for 7 days.
One step at a time ;)
  • I now have 9 items to post and 1 unpaid. My items listed last FL weekend are ending on Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope they sell so I can get at least half of my January total :)

I blocked a buyer tonight that never paid after opening case.
  • Hi everyone :-)
I have been a bit quiet over the last week or so! Sold 17 items from the FLD at end of Jan but had to refund 2 items as I could not find them anywhere! Nightmare!
My OH is at his friends to watch the boxing so I am dedicating a few hours to preparing some eBay listings. Will all be 99p though as its my 'junk' lol!
Will have to update my Feb total soon x
