I had a lady message me today about paying for something by postal order. I've never used a postal order before but I assume it's where she pays for it at the post office, it gets sent to me then I cash it in at my post office then send her the item. Is this an okay method of payment? Anyone have any bad experiences with it? I send everything recorded delivery so it should be okay, right?

I only have 1 bid on my 207 items but a couple of them end in the next few days and experience shows that people wait til the last couple of days to bid, so fingers crossed!

Slipper, the weather is gorgeous isn't it! :) Hope we get more

You can cash a Postal Order at the PO as long as it is not crossed, if it's crossed you have to pay it into a bank.

  • I had a guy pay for something via preloved with a postal order and it was fine. Payment for the item and postage cost included, cashed it in and sent the item at the same time.

The only problem I could see with it is whether there's proof it's been sent or cashed?

What do you mean by crossed?

Does anybody else have several methods of payment on ebay? I've been thinking about it but I worry that something might go wrong.

i accept uncrossed postal orders, you just take them to the post office and they give you the face value of them, they dont cost you anything but they do cost the buyer money to buy them.

if they are crossed, it will have a cross on it, and you have to pay it in the bank.

Had 2 really annoying buyers today. One was an international buyer who bid before asking for postage costs and when I gave costs I got a message filled with bad language. I then sold a petrol lawn mower and the woman came to pick it up with her very rude father who said they now don't want it so gave money back.

Why is it, you go for weeks no problems then 2 idiots in a day, I could scream

Only two items sold at 99p - 1 paid.

Have got to sort out new listings tomorrow. Can't wait any longer with the good weather here.

If anybody offers to pay by P.O. I jump at the chance - no Paypal fees :D

I'm pleasantly surprised that I've sold 8 items this week... just relists that I did last weekend before I went to the theatre. A few more items are ending later tonight, but only one has a bid (£1.04! lol).

Can't wait for the next free listing weekend - I'll be on fire! I have everything washed & photographed, unlike last time :S
