Evening all,
Just has a message from Amazon to say they have sent me £14.80 for a book I sold (minus the fees) so have added that to my total.
Have 15 listings ending tomorrow so hopefully that will increase it more.Moving on upSPC #382 ~ £40 banked

Hi all - oldtimers & newbies. I've been MIA for quite some time but hopefully this year things will be better, if I can only keep motivated.
Hope everyone had a good Xmas & New Year.
I'm going to go for 5 listings a day or 35 a week.
Do remember that the free 99p listings are for 100 per month after that you are charged & ebay often try to get you to register as a business.
There are lots of free photo hosting sites, I personally use, http://jpegbay.com/ some categories have 12 free pictures, if you're lising in one that only has 1 don't pay for extra pics as that soon eats into profit.
Turbo Lister seems to have picture packs & upgrades as the default setting, so beware of that as I've been caught out and these are expensive.
Some categories have p&p capped, so do make sure if you list in these that you start your price high enough to cover the extra postage costs.
Does anyone know if I can download all sales from last year & see how much I actually made without having to add it all up from Paypal?0 -

I'd make sure they definitely want to buy it before you list as 'buy it now'. I've done it for a few people and never had any problems
I've just had someone email me about some shoes I listed, asking what postage will be to Germany. Fingers-crossed she'll buy them and make me my first sale of 2011 - she has bought shoes from me before.
Thanks CompletelyLost, one bought it straight away, and then asked me how much I was looking for for all the other related items I was selling so fingers crossed. Another one already has a bid on so unfortunately I had to let the lady down as I couldn't put a "buy it now" price onto it. I felt bad as we had agreed a price but then I have to continue with the auction now. She was good about it though bless her. Good luck with the shoes - hopefully by the end of the day we'll both have completed a sale. Thanks for the advice. x:)0 -

I have a A4 diary that is a page a day including Sat & Sun. Then when I go out I sit on a Sat or Sun after the car boot or whatever and write in there, a list what I brought eg 6 craft magazines £1 and so on. Then I total it up, and transfer it onto a A4 sheet. So I have an A4 sheet for January outgoings another for Feb etc. The incomings are the invoices from ebay or Amazon. You can also claim for any petrol at 41p per mile so I have another sheet for mileage.
I don't have excel so everything is paperbased but I need to put everything on a spread sheet. I think openoffice have one to down load, I might do that tomorrow. Also don't forget to write down entrance fees etc.
Any recipets from charity shop/pound shop etc get put in an small envelope with the date on and I have a box that I put everything in. I also clip the postage recipts to the invoices that have sold everyday and put in the box. The same for Amazon sales etc.
My accountant is happy with this
I hope that is ok - sorry for long post
Thanks so much for sharing :j
All that sounds simple enough, i just wasn't sure if my word for what i'd paid for an item would be good enough, with there being no set price on a secondhand.
When i ran the Slimming world franchise i was told i needed to keep reciepts for everything but this was easy, outgoings where only Venue rent, stationary and advertising/promotion all of which i got recipets or invoices for.
I used to do my own accounts and tax returns,( although i hated it and always left it until the last minute! ) For those of you who run your own small businesses, would you recommend employing an accountant?
Ive been a SAHM since having the girls, and running the franchise worked well while they were younger, But after 6 years although my groups were successful i had lost my passion for it, and decided to give it up, Its not the sort of Job you can just sit in "for the money" IMO.
I adore Carboot sales and have been going to them on a regular basis for over 15 years, and i also drive the OH mad with my need to go in all the charity shops. We have 2 all year round carboots where i live and come spring there is a differnt one within easy driving distances every day of the week, also have 2 weekly fleamarkets held in the evenings ~ Roll on spring!!
Im really excited about whole the idea, but a little scared at the same time, Is this how you all felt before starting out on your own?
Gosh that turned into a ramble ~ hope you had a cuppa to hand :rotfl:
