Wishing you a very Happy New Year Mooloo :j
Re: Cath Kidston wallpaper... how about making some hanging panels for bathroom wall so it wont feel over powering in small room? Also re: garden... I'd advise waiting 12mths before making permanent plans so you can assess how sun is positioned throughout the day as this will change across the seasons, plus you can see where any existing plants/bulbs are. Also have a look at neighbours' gardens for ideas & inspiration.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Cannot wait to have my "whirly gig" dryer and its cover in the next week or so. Will need it putting into the ground, and some leveling off to it though!

Hi Mooloo
Coming out of lurkdom to say that you don't need to put whirlygig in ground. If you have a garden parasol base you can use that. That way you can move it around till you find the best place for it/follow the sun.
Happy New year and good luck in your new house.0 -

Hello again, sorry for the absence.
We had a lovely evening, with a bottle of bubbly, watching the Fireworks on the TV. It was also good to have a long lie in, (once I had been up for my tablets, and the loo!). We had a late breakfast/early lunch, sausage, eggs, beans and toast. Then BF helped me to build the unit for DGD's Toy boxes, and we cleared all the removal boxes from her room, and also attacked a few downstair.
In the mid afternoon we went back to his in Oxford, so I was able to relax, and he cooked a meal.
Then it was a lazy evening infront of the TV. This morning we were awake at 7.30 as he took his daughter to work, but he brought me up a cuppa and went back to bed on his return.
I was up a little bit later, as I am not used to having a lie in. It gave me some me time curled up in the chair in his kitchen with a cuppa and my diary.
He brought me home after we called into the cycle shop to get DGD her bike helmet. Got a Whinnie the Pooh one. Hope DGD will love it.
It was good to be driven. Saves my arm.
He helped me to organise/empty about 3 more boxes from the front room, before he went back to his place.
The sitting room is starting to be reclaimed frm he boxes. Only 6 more left in here.! Wont tell you how many there are in the bedroom and under the stairs still!
Did I tell you that the removal company are going to refund half of the packing costs? So I shall wait for a cheque in the post soon.
They put it in writing on their reply to my email.
I am now taking a short rest before DGD is due home.
I hope that she didnt wear thin on her Granddad and his wife, and that it could be a positive start to her relationship with them, and an opportunity for them to have her more often. Which would be good for her, and a respite for me.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
pleased you have had relaxing couple of days , well done on the refund is that because they didn't send enough people to pack ?
Don't worry about the boxes take your time and be ruthless when unpacking
Shattered so off for a lie down and more pills maybe do some crochet later*****

Mooloo, do you have to let social services know when you let someone else take DGD? I know my neighbour (who is a foster carer) has to have permission from SS to even leave her foster child with someone to go out for a couple of hours. It doesn't sound like SS make it very easy for foster carers. I must admit I was surprised to hear that from her.0

As a Foster Carer its our responsibility, and if we were to be going out and leaving them with someone who is a stranger, it may be different.
DGD was with her maternal grandfather, who she does know, but not so brilliantly. SS have spoken with him and it is recorded that he would be happy to have more contact.
As my situation is going to be the Guardian, I am left to do what I think is best.
CRB checks are done on the people around her if they are to have a major part in her life. Until the guardian ship is through, then its my responsibility again.
Gizmo will tell you the proper facts.
SS dont seem to have done things very well with me anyway, so to be honest I really just work on my gut feelings.
I know that her granddad would not harm her or i wouldnt have let her go. I may not be married to him anymore, but he was not a bad man, (just lazy, and liberal with the truth, but then that was 17 years ago since we divorced!).
I am quite tired now, and wish there was a TV in my room. I would watch a bit all cozy etc. Maybe soon.
Sitting room starting to look like a big room now. Kitchen will always look too small! Not much I can do about that. (Maybe it was designed for people who dont cook much!). :rotfl:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Is DGD back home now? Did she have a good time?0
