    Hello everyone,
I am here. Thanks for the concern.

I just over did it on Tuesday and then my day yesterday was rather bitty. I struggled with the aftermath of the day before.!
DGD went to Nursery in the morning and the Social Worker came here for an update etc. Molly's daughter came with me to collect her, and took her off to the park etc giving me time for a rest. I was nodded off in my recliner when they returned.
As soon as the evening meal was over, and DGD was in bed with her story done, I collapsed into my bed at about 7.30pm.

My Shed has arrived today! It was here by 7.55am! So at least I do not have to hang around keeping an eye out for a delivery or a spot for the driver to park. Parking here is very difficult as the doctors surgery is across the road, and most park here rather then in the carpark provided!.

The council/housing have sent two men out to clear up the garden, but it is still going to be quite a task to make it useable. But I am going to get some professional gardeners in to quote for me, and see what we can get done. The Social also want a gate at the side of the house, which she is hoping they will fund for me, while DGD is still a LAC. Lets see.
Waiting for the Child Benefit to give me a letter showing that DS is still on CB, and then both the Social want a copy, and the housing. AS my 25% single persons allowance has now also been added back onto the council tax and the rent. Will it ever be sorted out? Who knows. Its not for lack of trying.

    I

  • Morning Mooloo.
Just thinking about the parking, is there any chance that you would be allowed to open up part of your front garden for off street parking. Many councils allow this to get cars off the street.
Haters are gonna hate - you're not obliged to participate

I have to get planning permission, and the council charge around £1500 for the pavement. Then of course it would be the cost of hardcore etc for the front... Alas way beyond my pocket. I think the only way I would be able to get that is if I do eventually get DLA, and the OT could help. But what with the cuts to ILA, I am not very hopeful. But It will be on the back burner for a time when I have the money.:D If I ever do.

  • Hi Mooloo - glad to hear things are getting sorted out - even if it is slowly. Regarding your garden - would you qualify for some help by Age concern? They do jobs for people including gardening/decorating etc but I think this is for the 50 and upwards age group. This time of year is quite quiet for them I believe so that could fit in if you are eligible. Might be worth asking even if not in the age group. HTH.

I was going to suggest something similar as I think you'll find a professional landscaper to be prohibitively expensive, running into the thousands to do a garden of your size Mooloo. Or how about asking about locally or on Freecycle for perhaps someone retired who might fancy doing a couple of hours gardening a week if you can afford it?

Or, maybe exchange sewing for gardening services on LETS? http://www.letslinkuk.net/regions/east.htm

Wonder if it is worth speaking to your local branch though - certainly worth a try or they may be able to point you in the right direction if you explain your circumstances. HTH

I think many Age UK branches have lists of approved workmen, those they've assessed as trustworthy and who do a good job. I don't think their services are free more that their charges are reasonable.
It sounds like what you need is a good jobbing gardener to knock the garden into shape so you can manage it after that.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
