Well I went out to cut the grass. DGD had me running in and out for ages. But I finally realised that she had gone all quiet about 40 mins ago. (I was outside talking to the neighbour over the fence for a while). She had fallen asleep, in bed with her dummy.
Now I am realising that she will have to be woken soon, but reluctant, as I really am injoying the peace and quiet and getting to see some of my own programmes on TV and not Scooby Doo!.
I am going to be doing some pasta for tea, so thats easy when ever she wakes up.
The lawn is done at least.
I have a sewing mag delivered today, so I may have a quick flick through that.
Not sure if I just heard her moving about or its a toy falling off the bed. We will see in a minute. Meanwhile I am going to make a cup of tea and see whats next on the agenda for me to do.

It's a difficult one, isn't it? So, in my usual habit of asking more questions, do you think they SHOULD have had evidence that the garden would need more work than an 'average' garden? It's all very well to believe that what was going on was 'common knowledge', but if the previous tenants weren't actually evicted because they were in prison for grow your own offences ... and I can't remember what the previous history of the house was.
I am not sure that they should have known, but I think that the removal of the greenhouse, was not done very well. However the neighbours tell me that they had spoken to the housing officer. Obviously not documented though!
And the next thing is, what do they mean by 'rake over the area'? Because tbh I can't see many specialist contractors literally 'raking over the area' as you and I understand it: I'd have thought their 'raking' would have been by mechanical means. But I could be wrong about that.
Indeed I shall have to ask them what they mean by raking over the area too. If it is to rotorvate and remove then I would be reasonably content with that. At least it would give me a small part of the garden that was safe for DGD, and the worst part of it too.
And finally: if they are prepared to pay for 'raking over the area' and it IS just a fairly superficial thing, how much more would their specialist contractor charge to do what you consider a 'proper job', and could you offer to pay the difference? Maybe you shouldn't have to, but the priority has to be getting the job done.
Good point. I will ask. Although financially I do not have anything left in the coffers at the moment. Although maybe I could get a loand from my parents when they come back from France, or ask the housing if I could pay them monthly along with the rent.?

I think rotovate is just that, a bit like ploughing with a good chance that as much glass could be turned up and re-buried as would be removed.
Raking would find any glass in the top few inches which could then easily be removed.
Gold standard is remove the top soil and anything in it and replace with new.

Why not write back and ask them to explain why they have decided that raking is the best solution when all they've seen of the iffy part of the garden is a few snaps and a box of broken glass?
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Yes I can see your point. It may just push the glass back in? Perhaps taking the topsoil off is the answer. That was what the original quote I had was for. To take the top off, and to replace, and to reseed the grass.
I think writing to them to explain is a good idea. Thanks.

Hi Mooloo

I am so pleased that they are taking your complaint seriously.

I think you need to ask if the specialist can come round to look at what needs doing first and then he can report to the HA about the best solution and if a specialist says that the top layer needs to come off then that is what they will have to pay for.

Maybe you could send an email to the person who replied so this is put into place asap.

Emails for HA are usually firstname.surname@HA.co.uk or org.uk

Thanks EE.
I will get all these ideas together and I will create another letter/email, and see what occurs.
As they are offering to come out, that does mean that they are going to do something, which after 7 long months is a relief.
I shall keep you all informed.

Today the roadworks shift from my side of the street to the other, which means the buses etc are now going to be closer to us, and my car will have to moved further away. Another few weeks of that to go then.

DGD woke not long after I had said I was going to have a cuppa then wake her. So that solved that problem. ALthough it did mean it was 10pm and she was still awake.

Right, time to get on today
Think the tablets from yesterday are now back in my system and I am feeling somewhat better. Thankgoodness.

Sewing is the aim today when DGD is in Nursery.
IF I can get her out of her Spongebob pj's!. As they look like tshirt and shorts she wants to stay in them!!!

Oh, leave her in them ... I bought my 3 what I thought were Harry Potter shorts and t-shirt sets, which were actually pyjamas! They never wore the shorts (they weren't really shorts wearers) but they wore those t-shirts everywhere!
Signature removed for peace of mind

Morning,
I am tired today. Stayed up watching TV with twin1 after DGD had gone to bed. It was 11pm when I went to bed, which is very very late for me.
DGD woke me up at 7.am. So I did sleep an hour later then I would on adverage but that still doesnt seem to make a difference.
Its a dull, windy day here.
The work men are digging up the road, moving cables and generally making a hell of a noise outside.

I am off upstairs now, sit in the work room and see if I can sew something today.
Still have my dress to make before next week too.
Twin1 told me that twin2 did have enough money for her to go and sign on, but she wouldnt help her with busfare to get her to the course she was supposed to be on. So she had to cancel the course. Twin2 has been told to help her sister on Thursday, give her the bus fare to go to town to sign on next week, and then when she gets her money she can do the same back. (Then it would be a floating £10 between them!). Meaning that they dont have to go without the busfare again. Well thats the theory!!!!).
Anyway I didnt have to have felt so guilty afterall.

Really good news to hear that the twins are trying to help themselves. If they are put in a sink or swim situation it seems that they can communicate between each other and look for a solution on their own, which removes a huge burden off you. Now you just need to try and stand back and see how they manage with what they have. x

Its being achieved by whispering in thier ears! Suggestions and tips dropped into the phone calls etc. Etc. But we will see.
I dropped the idea to one twin, then the other told me it was thier plan. I dont mind as long as something is done and I am not picking up the pieces.
Looking at my budget at the moment, I really need to make some savings of around £1000 a year. Which is not going to be that easy, as I already paired down by £4,500 a year.
But its my fault for getting used to having the increased funds, and continuing to spend when they stopped.
I will pull the horns in. Just need to try harder. Lets face it, last year for a long time I was on the £4,000 a year challenge, from necessity rather then choice.

I have been cutting out bags, purses, and wallets and sewing trimming on towels and making childrens aprons today.
I am tired and sore, but its been good to focus. It leaves me 15 bags/purses/wallets to sew over the next few days/ start of next week. I hope.:D
