  • I forgot to say, I had a charity bag through the door at the beginning of the week, and it was collected on Friday, so that stuff has gone! I just went through one of my lever arch files of paperwork (I need a pat on the back, getting rid of paperwork gives me the heebie jeebies :rotfl: ) and sorted out some bits and shredded them. I also decided I need some new files, as the lever arch file is so full and heavy it's not easy to handle, I'd be better off with two smaller files - so will have a look in the poundshop/WHS for some.

I also sorted out my underwear drawer (which I only did about six months ago) and found three more bras (underwear is my weakness) to go to that charity.

So a pretty productive day - I also managed to do an exercise DVD today.
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

2 bags of rubbish in bin
4 bags of clothes put aside for charity shop - hope we get an age concern bag soon
1 massive bag of paper awaiting shredding
    20 magazines in recycling bin.

Still can't see much difference to be honest which is a bit depressing.

I know what you mean about not seeing a difference, but you would see the difference if it all went back again.

Re the Age Concern- do you have a shop reasonably locally? Or an Age Concern centre? If you gave them a call they might collect. 4 bags would probably bring in enough to make the trip worthwhile for them.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I had a mammoth shredding session last night! Now have folders with hardly anything in some of them but like to keep different folders for different things.

Thanks to @whitewing for telling me about the Recycling Factory. I had an HP C350 printer for xmas and my 301 cartridges are on the list, tho some of the others it says 'non virgin' not sure what that means lol!!! I will look at the site more as I am wondering how they pay out etc.

Hello - good to see so many people doing so well. Have to report that my 100 things in 10 days has gone very wrong. Managed 25 in two days but then not done any more since as have had a bad back. Cant remember doing anything to harm it but for a few days it has been rather painful. It started to feel right on Friday but am still a bit dubious of doing too much.
So if no one thinks its cheating or anything I was thinking of just carrying on and counting today as day 3 so -
    100 things in 10 days -
    DAY THREE
    26 - shoes - c.s.
    27 - shoes - c.s

    Hello everyone :j

Right getting rid of 20 things this weekend:

    1. Old trainers, got covered in dogs yuck, blerrrrgghh, were worn out anyway (bin)
    2. Rubbish bits from lounge (bin)
    3. Xmas pressie to an old neighbour, oops! (friend)
    4. Out of date cat food, opened, they didnt like (bin)
    5. Stationery bits (charity)
    6. Odd decorative glass (charity)
    7. Glass bowl, broken, was my mums :( (bin) (sniff)
    8. Jewellery bits (charity)
    9. Watch, an Avon offer one (charity)
    10. Old travel clock (charity)
    11. Old camera (charity)
    12. Toiletries bag unused (charity)
    13. PC thingie-may-bob (charity)
    14. Perfume, yuck, (charity)
    15. Cosmetic bag from a gift set (charity)
    16. Newspapers/leaflets (recycling)
    17. Another PC thingie, something to do with CDs (charity)
    18. Blender bits (charity)
    19. More stationery bits, pens, pencils (charity)
    20. Odd bits from car such as a suit carrier (charity)

Phew. I am exhausted.:o But another 20 things gone. Woo hoo. Now in the boot of the car ready to be dropped off. :T

State of play with my declutter targets:
Washing mountain - I cannot seem to win this war. OH has 3x as many clothes as me and he has sorted lots but still loads of things there...
Lounge surfaces - that's where most of my 20 things came from. Sorted all bar the fireplace (shouldn't take long) and one corner of the floor. I've managed to fill my side table up again though. But overall that is improving. It's a continual battle but I'd love to finish the floor soon.
Kitchen surfaces - like the lounge it's a constant battle. I haven't attacked the kitchen for a while so maybe I'll do some work on these. I've seen some bits in Lakeland that might help with storage too.
Box room - this is OH's domain. He has been working like a trooper in there. Much of it recycled and binned. I want to put some new pine furniture in here as storage.
Study - not even attempted this yet. Cannot see the floor... I want to put a smaller PC desk in there eventually.
Bedroom - its the floor thats the main problem. My toiletries and make up are much better organised now. I have the S&G tote bag which contains all my stash I will move that to a more accessible place and put the less needed stuff (like travel bags) in its place.

Right last few bits of decluttering this evening:
--- off to put on a washing machine load and will try to put one on overnight too. Clearing that washing mountain is a must!!!
--- going to put 5 things away in the bedroom
--- may try doing flylady this week as they may help things too

Yay to PenelopeP for her sterling efforts - found those other 3 things yet, a bottle of wine can count :p

    How's everyone else doing? What's your targets/plans? :A

  • Evening All,

Sorry not been posting but I have been s- l-o-w-l-y de- cluttering (honest)

This week I managed to sort through my huge chest freezer ( wish I could get some proper wire baskets that I could stack inside it) and I put 4 or 5 weeks worth of meals in carrier bags so I hopefully just open a bag inside the freezer each week and have to use whats in that bag that week (except for last week I forgot to put in my DD3 veggie options so that made it kidda hard- whoops) - I had to throw away some food that unfortunately had bad freezer burn/or was over a year old.

And yesterday while waiting for DD3 to get ready to go out I went through the drawers from her room ( the slider things have broken and although the drawers are fine they won't slide - need replacing) that are sat in front of a chest of drawers in my room and from them I got it all sorted down from 6 drawers to all sat in 1! plus put gloves woolie hats and scarfs back into hall way, makeup either back on dresser or in bin, toiletries into bathroom, pile or real girlie girl "stuff" ready to give to a friends two little girls.:T

The thing is now I can get to my drawers( not been in them for at least 6 months) and I had a quick peep in just one - and I nearly passed out!

At least I have found my next "hot spot" to tackle!lol.

I went out with some mum's from school on Friday night for a 'few drinks', so didn't get much done on Saturday :o

My parent's came today so we had until 10.45am to get the place sorted! After getting most of the kitchen sorted last week, there was only 'the side' to do, and although it's not 100% properly sorted, it was very tidy - now all we need to do is keep it that way! Tidied the living room really well (ok, some bits got dumped in the conservatory and playroom but it will get done...)

    In:
Birthday cards and pressie for me :) (got to store for 2 weeks though)
Mum's slow cooker fully of yummy food
2 (!!!, but they are DD1's faves) puddings

    Out:
    Empty slow cooker
Clean tin foil from puddings recycled
    Some bits for recycling

It didn't take us long to declutter lunch :)

Our living room, dining room and kitchen are now all wonderfully tidy and all my hoovering is done for the time being. Monday morning won't seem so bad now :D
