The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Sneaks in and hangs head in shame
I am a serial horder as my great declutter to install new kitchen/boiler and rads is showing.
To my shame I found a car cd/radio player was found at the back of a top shelf of the wardrobe (for the last 10 years at least I have never replaced the built in radio in any of my cars!)
Also on the shelf was a massager given to me by a friend over 10 years ago, never used.
2 or 3 empty mobile boxes (recyled)
1 camera box that no one knows where the camera is!
1 sat nat box
1 very large bin bag to the Charity shop of good to resell items (2 coats 2 small, 2 pairs of trainers my OH doesn't wear but I'm sure he hated them and just hid them!) 3 or 4 good towels but I have so many very good towels. 1 bed topper that always moved when ever on my bed.
1 box of crockery, mix of cups/dishes and glasses.
2 bags I no longer use and OH pointed that out (in retaliation for the trainers I think!)
1 bag of mixed new items hae been deposited to my Mums as she is doing a church charity raffle so I'm sure she could use the items.
I took 2 very large bin bags of old clothes, odd socks, very awful old towels we used to use for the dog!
I have really tackled my house chaos with gusto today!
I already have a few items awaiting tomorrows rehousing starting with a printer we don't use but a frinds has just packed in!
Its just great to give away my junk but sometimes it turns into someones treasure.
I have also made it known I need a new picture for my dining room, if someone is having a revamp!0 -
Well done everybody, I think you're all doing marvellous. New cat definitely doesn't count
I have slowed down since middle of the week, but 4 black bags of rubbish collected today (3 left, plus whatever we collect in the next 2 weeks).
Decluttered some grime & spiders webs from by the front door yesterday - & found 3 small sweets lurking left after Halloween,so they went in the bin. Also have managed some dusting & wiping in the living room so the tele is back in for OH to watch the football on. OH also fixed the curtain rail & has put a bit of spare wall paper by the radiator to cover up the gaps where the old radiator used to be. (doing things that need to be done counts as decluttering in the book I have). I 'decluttered' on Friday by actually getting a blood test done that I've been meaning to ask for for the last 2/3 years :rotfl:And have decluttered some of the washing that needs to be done.
I think there is something in the air re decluttering, even my dad has been throwing some old magasines out & a friend of mine has filled a bin bag full of clothes according to her status on facebook

Going through very old paperwork in boxes in bedroom and managed to throw away birth and adoption certificates!
Luckily realised I hadn't seen them in the "to keep" pile so went through bin bag full of stuff for shredding and managed to find them.
Will have to be a bit more careful in future.0 -
A bag of recycling has gone out and I have a bag of stuff ready to take to the Charity Shop (was in too much pain to go out today  so Dr Dragon nipped out to do the shopping and left me resting!), so I found my 10 items they just haven't all left the building yet :rotfl:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

We have gone thro my filing cabinet and archived or confidentially wasted a lot of the contents so that's all clean and crisply organised.
Started on my cupboard. Sorted out a lot of pencils, crayons, pens etc - binned a few and put the decent stuff aside for a children's group. Also 'churching' some stationery equipment - 2 pencil pots which are sturdy and useful but have bigger tops than bases and I am fed up with knocking them over.
Will be gifting some more of the decent office stationery (wire pots and trays). Still love 'em but don't use them effectively.
DH has taken LO to get DS so I must archive the personal paperwork. Have a lovely clean small filing cabinet for the household paperwork - that's virtually empty now and ready for the next few years.
Also need to sort out my notoceboards. Will have to carry some tasks over to tomorrow.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Hi Hales. Welcome to the thread. I think its really up to you how you want to go about it but a good way of getting started is 100 things in 10 days. I've just had a read of the thread and am motivated again now! Its nice to feel like you're not alone and have the support. Good luck. xIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids.
