The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Well, I had a phone call from my mum last night saying that as it's my birthday soon she, my dad and my brother were going to come and see me to bring cards and pressies, and to see the DDs too of course. They're coming on Sunday so that gives me a deadline for getting the living room/dining room and kitchen decluttered and cleaned. The bathroom is already done and will just need a clean. My mum has always been a bit of a neat freak, she has no clutter in her living room (until our girls visit lol) so although I know she doesn't care really if our home isn't spotless and uber tidy (she says she comes to see us, not a tidy house
) I still like to make an effort to get the house in shape.
Got 20 minutes until I have to pick up DD2, lets see what I can get done!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Hi all
Well the wardrobe has been relieved of 25 items of clothing that are now ready to go to the charity shop! I am actually slightly embarrassed that I have so many clothes I never wear.
Wanted a pair of old jeans for gardening in and as a result I set off a small avalanche out of the top of the wardrobe. Wondered if I could find 15 things to go to the charity shop and I came out with 25. I have left behind anything that is ebayable (if thats a word). Will tackle that later in the week.
So ... the garden. Our garden is a mess and I am hugely embarrassed about it. OH is a professional garden and frowns at me doing anything with it but recently hasnt had time to do it himself. I have had enough of this and I am taking it on myself, whether he likes it or not. I know absolutely nothing about gardening so wish me luck as I go out with the recyling bins and a pair of secateurs!0 -

well at least if you do a really bad job it will encourage DH to do the garden instead! I don't think you can do much harm, especially this time of yearweaving through the chaos...0 -

I can't remember who told us about this but I have now set up a 'tickler' file in one of the drawers of my filing cabinet. And I am very pleased with it. No more bits of paper sticking out of my calendar.
I have also bought 3 noticeboards and some hooks and bulldog clips, so the stuff we use daily (eg our shopandscan and postal survey stuff) is going to be organised where I can see it and not left in piles on the floor for the baby to wreck!
I can see that we are getting much more organised, and other tasks like packing away some of my business stuff, is taking a lot less time than it used to. But it isn't going as quickly as I'd like. Still DH is around all weekend so we should be able to get some more done then.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I want and need an early night tonight, but I'm going to try and get some ebay descriptions written up and photos taken, even if I don't get anything listed. I find it easier to do this way as I can copy and paste the bit of the description that stays the same (i.e. opening sentence/combined postage info etc) then change the middle bit and do a load at the same time, rather then writing one and listing it then doing the next and listing that etc. Otherwise I end up listing a couple of things before getting bored or distracted lol. My aim is to get everything in the ebay box on the living room windowsill listed by the weekend. Hopefully a few things out = some extra wonga pretty please
So much to do by the weekend...Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000
