Sorry to hear you are having a bit of a difficult time Dizzybuff, I'm sure things will be looking up again soon and on the bright side you have a wonderful new baby to look forward to
When I am feeling depressed, I try and think of 5 positive things from today and focus on them - it doesn't matter how small they are - it can be getting something done that you have been meaning to do for a while, selling something on ebay - any bit of good news or small achievement. Sounds a bit silly but it helps me get in a more positive frame of mind!
Still very slow progress here, added some of them vacuum storage bags (still in their boxes) and clothes to the charity shop pile, also couple of handbags to the recycling pile. Hall is now so cluttered with 'pending out' things they need to go as it becoming a health and saftey hazard! Will take most of it tomorrow.
Very pleased today as I had a few things on ebay ending tonight which sold. One of the pairs of jeans didn't sell last time they were listed with a £5 start so this time I listed them at a 99p start and it sold for £15!
Keep up the good work everyone0 -
managed to sort out another 6 handbags for charity shop - thankfully my addiction to handbags is well and truly broken - if only I could conquer my addiction to toiletries, (I'm trying to change my ways honest! :rotfl:)0

Hi everyone,
I donated 2 big garbage bags of clothes etc and 2 bags of books(around 20) to the salvos. I had them there for ages trying to convince myself to ebay them(which I have never done) rather then give them away to charity(which i always do) but then the floods hit Queensland, NSW and Victoria and I thought if ever there was a sign to send them to charity this is it. I don't have a lot of cash to give (I did give some) but I have lots of goods I can donate which can either be sold to help or go directly to people in need.
Anyway this has inspired me and I hope to have another load by the end of the week to be donated.
Oh and I also recycled a heap of old university papers that got wet during a storm we had and also put a heap that were undamaged intp the pile I use in the printer. There is actually floor space in the spare room lol.Thailand 3010/15000 20150 -
Hi everyone hope your week gets off to a good start and thank you for all the tips regarding teens and ebay. Elaine if only the house was overflowing with fish!!
Thought I would update on my weekend of planning to de-clutter my 11 areas this week at 15minutes each. Plan failed within first hour so have decided to do this in the week only and a bit more at weekends.
Filled 10 boxes with sell/CS stuff and moved them to attic and filled 3 bin liners of rubbish (now nestling in bin)
1 bag for charity which is outside on the wall awaiting collection
de-cluttered bathroom and removed all excess toiletries to box in wardrobe to replace when the one bottle of shampoo, bath stuff etc. is empty
de-cluttered fridge which is now all shiny and clean
Took large box of empty bottles to bottle bank
Have pile of paperwork in my work bag for sorting for 15minutes in my lunch break
Had a 'talk' with the teens who now have a box each in their rooms for rubbish and they like the idea of getting some cash from selling games etc.and even an offer of listing some items for ebay.
Feeling very positive so long may it continue.....and I can see the attic steps!!

After Saturday's mega declutter didn't leave the house yesterday so not much chance to get rid of stuff then but did all the recycling and rubbish in the bins in each room and that's all now in the garage waiting for collection tomorrow or in the wheelie bin for next week. Also lots of other cleaning as we're trying to keep on top of things in case anyone does want to buy our house!
I did use up a bath bomb and a sachet of face mask so 2 things used up in the cosmetic department.
The beauty of being in all day meant nothing new came in either!
Listed another 5 things on ebay last night too.
Out today:- 10 items sold on ebay and associated envelopes etc to package them - all but 1 paid for. Will only make about £10 as they didn't sell for much but most very low cost items or freebies so I'm happy!
- Avon catalogue out for collection - didn't even look in it again.
- 4 little boxes of Yorkshire Tea bags I got given at Guide camp last summer, don't drink much tea at home and am still working my way through Sainsburys ones bought on offer early last year but at work we use Yorkshire Tea so bought them in and popped in the container. Boxes in recycling minus coupons which I'll keep and get some Yorkshire Tea Loaf with I think.

I think I've posted this on here before, but for anyone who hasn't seen it and struggles with newspapers and other recycling:
We live in a 3 storey house with our living room and 2nd bedroom, which we use as an office, on the middle floor. In the kitchen we have a stack of plastic boxes with lids, one for plastic recycling, one for paper and card and one for tins and glass (the 3 things we get collected in our kerbside recycling). Any random things, like textiles and empty plastic bags from food etc get popped in the bottom one.
Then in the living room, office and our bedroom on the top floor we have two bins, a white one and a red one. The white one is for waste and then the red for recycling, so if we finish a bottle of shower gel, have a pair of tights with a ladder in it etc in the bedroom they go in the red bin in that room, in the living room if we finish reading something/have a bottle of wine - they go in the red bin there. Then each week we take all the bins downstairs and take all the recycling into the garage and rubbish into the wheelie bin.
It works for us as there isn't generally piles of recycling hanging around in the living room/bedroom - you just have to check for tissues in the red bin if you have new visitors!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

It is such a good feeling isn't it?
I am pleased as have received a leaflet saying the air ambulance are doing a clothing (and shoes) collection tomorrow. That should incentivise me to have another ruthless clear out.
I seem to be doing a mixture of ebaying and charity shop / freecycling. I think that works well, come pennies for me as a reward for the hard work and some good karma for helping others out too!
Yesterday, I decided to try something new. I tried being mess neutral! By that I mean, when I got up I tried to undo my actions as I went along and also to do small additional things along the way. So when I got up I made the bed. Then when I cleaned my teeth, I had a quick sweep of the bathroom and gathered a couple of empty toiletries to take to the recycle bin.
It felt really productive. I gave up after about 10am though as my little tasmanian devil had ransacked the living room lol. I might try doing that a couple of days a week and see how far I can get xxxx0 -
