Still waiting for OH to go through the videos. Not had a good week , received notice of impending redundancy , they have a month to find me a new job then im on 3 months notice and still no sign of this baby . Can feel myself slipping into depression once more . Really at a loss as what to do . Failed to get to two close friends funerals this week as well. So all in all not felt like de cluttering much. :(

Hugs dizzybuff :Ayou will be decluttering that baby into this wonderful world in no time :A cant wait to see pics :j

Ask your OH to sort just 5 videos and then ask him to sit down with you for a hug :A

  • Well, you have all inspired me! We have lived in our house for 9 years and its full to bursting with stuff we dont need. I did start de-cluttering a while ago but quickly ran out of steam. I have loads of clothes I never wear but for some reason find it hard to part with them. Any suggestions for how to start clearing my wardrobe?

We are short of money at the moment and the house needs decorating. I know that if we had a massive de-clutter it would be an improvement. I also have time on my hands as I am not working at the moment so there is no excuse really.

I am going to make a list of areas/cupboards to tackle then I can cross them off as I go. First target is to get into the back of the big cupboard in youngest sons bedroom, I have a feeling there is a box of baby toys in there that can go.

Hi Yorkielass - right the wardrobe!! I;d suggest taking everything out and laying it on your bed. and then look at each piece or try it on - if it doesnt make you feel great or you have a niggle about it (too tight or short or long or worn) then let it go. Same with shoes. Let us know how you get on :)

    Out:
About a dozen eBay parcels over the last few days
Big box of old CDs and DVDs (about 35) not worth selling individually to Music Magpie
Two pairs of shoes and old fitted sheets to the charity collection bag
Two pairs of trousers (ripped beyond repair) to the rag bin

    In:
Loads of Body Shop BOGOF sale stuff :o - it will get used, just won't have to buy any until next year's sale!
New deep wall fitted sheets - old ones weren't deep enough for our mattress plus topper, kept coming off

took a HUGE bag of stuff to CS on Friday. The lady working there was really sweet - she came out to meet me when she saw I was donating and seemed genuinely please to take the bag - I hope there was some nice things in there, was hard to remember what I'd put in!

at moment I'm sorting through the photos on the computer (virtual decluttering, but needs to be done) I've been choosing the best ones to send off to get printed - all the photo albums on the shelf just stop at the point we got a digital camera. Also been deleting the blurred ones, and endless photos of ducks, daffodils etc, pointless things like that...or things I had sold on ebay years ago - still had the photos saved!

have made a big pile of things that need sewing/mending and put them by sofa so I can make a start on them while watching telly tonight
    weaving through the chaos...
  • Hello All,

Just reporting in on mineallmine's mini-challenge. Today I have managed:

    11. CD player (Freecycle)
    12. Fondue set (CS bag)
    13. Poster (CS bag)
    14. Book (CS bag)
    15. Game (CS bag)
    16. Tons of cardboard boxes for electrical items (Recycle Centre tomorrow)
    17. Bin bag of polystyrene from above (bin)
    18. Bag of kids clothes (Freecycle)

Well I didn't manage 20 items but big thanks to mineallmine for the challenge!

    Will carry on decluttering tomorrow.

Now... where's that glass of wine....?

  • I've managed to bin/recycle/give to charity shop/put in the cellar 20 groups of items plus one extra:

    1 one picture frame

    2 two posters

    3 32 pairs of socks

    4 two cotton tops

    5 two jumpers

    6 one Tee-shirt

    7 seven bras

    8 three scarves

    9 two old calenders

    10 one pair of boots

    11 one draw sheet

    12 three cushion covers

    13 one large plastic container

    14 two toilet bags

    15 numerous unused perfume samples

    16 one large plastic jar

17 three jam jars to cellar

18 one large storage jar to cellar

    19 four glasses to cellar

20 miscellaneous dry goods to cellar

21 one shoe box to recycling

Well, when I started I never thought that I would manage it.In the process I have also spring cleaned my chest of drawers, fixed a wobbly drawer and spring cleaned a corner of the bedroom.

    Thanks mineallmine for the inspiration!:A

I might do this 'declutter 20 things' once a week.I think I'll find it easier than trying something every day.

I've some more clothes to add to the bag for the charity shop:

    Two pairs of PJs

    Seven tops

    Two belts

    Eight T-shirts.

    :j

Not that my flat looks any less cluttered, mind you.....:(
