I just found this thread yesterday and would like to join in. I really need some motivation, although I did make a start even before Christmas. I used to keep a box of wrapping paper (for Christmas and birthdays) in a corner and decided that it was time for it all to go. And it did!! I couldn't believe how old and tatty it was so just binned it. I bought new and used the lot, except for the "leftovers" from cutting to fit parcels. I'd normally have added these to my hoard but binned them straight away. I've now bought some at 3 rolls for £1 ready for next year.
After Christmas I also sorted the decorations out, binned some and took a load to the CS, together with other things I had sorted out earlier.
I like the tips about putting 1 or 2 bits on e-bay at a time. I'll definitely try that one as I get so fed-up doing it and then just don't bother. Even the free listing week-end didn't fire me up.
We downsized to our bungalow 6 years ago and still have boxes in the loft that we haven't unpacked. As we so obviously don't need any of it, it's time it went.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Don't all faint but I just gave away my entire collection of Le Creuset to a friend, who's moved into a house with an Esse range and has no suitable pots or casserole dishes. That's fifteen seperate objects and I now have then entire bottom shelf of the walk in cupboard free again. My Rayburn died of old age four years ago and my back's too wonky to cope with cast iron pots any more. There was at least an inch of dust on it, that's how long ago I used it! I'm glad to see it go tbh.

we have loads of stuff in our house
it's was funny, but not any more. I have been limited as to what i can do at the moment because i'm unwell
i also have problems knowing where to start because there is so much clutter to get rid of. I'm reluctant to charity shop all of it because i know i could sell some of it and make some money, but at the same time i know that we need to get rid asap... help!!!
I'm feeling exactly like that, I want to declutter but would like to sell some of it because I know its good stuff just surplus to my requirements and just cluttering up my house. I don't know where and how to start though, I've sorted out some books and taken them to the cs with some tops and odd bits and today I put out a bag for the Salvation Army to collect. That felt good because I know they do such good work. I've also joined the 'Frugal Living Challenge' as want to try and make my money go round and get rid of my balance transfers and I've chosen to do this by not buying anything unless absolutely necessary. I have three freezers full of food to use up so I'm not going to starve! I'm freecycling, re-cycling, re-using and making do with what Iv'e I got and its quite a lot to do but I think I need to do it all together as one part of it won't work without the others. The idea of putting boxes out and putting time aside on a regular basis to pick up a set number of bits to recycle to take to the charity shops sound a good idea so I may start that tomorrow and then put the boxes straight into the car boot to be distributed on my next trip to town. What I don't want to do is end up with boxes all over the house waiting to go to car boots ( its not the right time of the year at the moment anyway) I want the space now and to be able to find those things I use often without rummaging through 'stuff'. perhaps its just patience I need to sort it all out slowly and steadily until I get there.Keep to £400 a month on C/C.

Well, it's the end of the week and I have made a tiny amount of progress. Still lots of clutter but I did take an inventory of what I have in the freezer and now no that I don't need to buy meat or cheese for at least 3 months. So that will save me bringing any more of that into the house. I also thoroughly cleaned some of the kitchen cupboards and got rid of all the extra kitchen utensils that I can't possibly use. I didn't need half the stuff I had and as it is I have probably hung on to too much but I will return to it all again sometime but I'm moving on this weekend to other things.
My aim is to finish the kitchen clear up and limit how much I keep in my kitchen cupboards. i also want to clean the bathroom and hall including the hall cupboard. That's probably as much as I can manage realistically.
Wishing you all a great weekend

I've done quite well today. A bin bag of clothes and 123 other items (including 25 cassette tapes and 26 books) for CS, bag of paper, bag of cardboard, a bin bag of fabric scraps, and 8 old ink cartridges for recycling, and 24 items of crap binned, including my coolbag with a broken zip, I toyed with the idea of replacing the zip but had to admit that I probably wouldn't get around to doing it, so binned it before I could change my mind. Also emptied a bin bag of summer clothes and put them into a vacuum bag to put in the airing cupboard, so they now take up a bit less room. Recycling and charity shop stuff (including the other CS bits that are in the shed) will be dropped off tomorrow.
While decluttering I found a button off my nightie (sewed it back on tonight), and the box from my old mobile phone, that I was going to put on Ebay last week, so that now has the phone in it and is in the 'Ebay' box ready for the next time I list some stuff on there.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Still not much more progress from me but I did de-clutter a broken xbox which I sold on ebay, also de-cluttered a load of old bubble wrap in the process. Done a bit of tidying up and got rid of lots of stuff into the recycling box. Going to do a bit of de-cluttering in bedroom later. I feel like I'm a bit of a rut as I'm finding it harder and harder to find things to get rid of, yet still everywhere I look I see clutter0

Final update later on, as this is my last day of the 10 days challenge. Not going to make 100 things (as watching a film with OH later), but at least it's more stuff out!
Oops, didn't do any more decluttering today!Gave myself the rest of the day off (and tomorrow), so will start again on Sunday. Still need to do the pantry tidy up/inventory, so this is next on the list.
