    Out:
Sold 3 freebie e.l.f. lip glosses that I found new sealed in my make up bag for £1 at work
Sold 3 hornby wagons from OHs model railway stuff through work for £5 only cheap ones, he'd painted one and all surplus to requirements - glad to see rehomed.

    In:
    £6 for above!

The plan is all money I make from selling things will go into a savings account and then if we ever manage to move it can go towards any new furniture etc that we need.

Do you mind if I join in here more regularly please? I'm finding this really helpful and have shedloads of stuff to get rid of. I'm very hamstrung as DH is a hoarder (as is DD and DS is showing signs) but my hope is if they see me doing stuff it will motivate them to let me help them declutter too ... that's the theory ;).

As well as what I put on in my earlier thread, I have now decluttered 3 months worth of old paperwork from when I did mystery shopping - it's no longer needed and was just taking up space. Got a file I want to clear out too so more paperwork for the paper recycling coming up :).

I plan to clear an area by the computer, put stuff I want to list on Netmums/ebay/Amazon there, and have it as a 'holding area' for things listed for sale or awaiting collection.

Welcome to my world!!! good luck-I'm having to be really ruthless this year because all this clutter is making our lives a misery. For a start we can't find things when we need them so end up going out and buying more (which isn't cost effective!). Especially when we find the thing we were originally looking for after we have purchased another! ggrrr

Hi Mumof2 - post here as often or as little as you need - some people post regliously every day/every week, some in fits and starts.

I go through phases, I sometimes post lots and then have a few weeks when I'm too busy/get distracted with other things but have decided that 2011 is the year things get sorted and MSE is the place that will do it.

Sue, you will find that decluttering enriches your life. I decluttered DH's underwear drawer while he was at work, threw away all his odd socks (and the ones I can't bear). Well, I didn't dare throw it away, put it under the sink for recycling. If he feels that he has a choice to keep it then he is happy for it to go. Now he has lots of pairs of usable socks and underwear, rather than 2 or 3 pairs that get taken off the airer because he can't easily find anything else.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Sue it is hard, I don't think any of us on here would disagree with you here is what I would suggest you do:

First thing I'd do is get a bag and go round your home and collect 15 things that can be recycled, newspaper, magazine, empty shampoo bottle all that sort of thing we all leave around if we don't get on top of it and presuming you have recycling bins put them in those. I'm afraid I can't remember who :o but someone did piccies of their house on here recently and there were lots of empty cardboard boxes which can take up lots of space.

Then do the same with rubbish.

This only takes 10 minutes to do and if you did this every couple of days I'm sure it'll start to help and you can get into the habit of doing this regularly.

I think with everything else it depends what you hoard - if it's lots of things tackle each thing at a time we can give lots of suggestions and support.

I find posting what has gone in and out the house really helps too.

I am married to a hoarder! Every cupboard, drawer and shelf we have is full to bursting with junk. I can never find anything when I'm looking for it, he always knows roughly where something is but trying to find it in there is a nightmare. I would love to be looking for something and be able to open a cupboard and there it was. I have had enough now and have told him that I am going to start getting rid of some stuff and finally he has agreed that there is far too much clutter for the space we have!!

we have loads of stuff in our house :o it's was funny, but not any more. I have been limited as to what i can do at the moment because i'm unwell :( i also have problems knowing where to start because there is so much clutter to get rid of. I'm reluctant to charity shop all of it because i know i could sell some of it and make some money, but at the same time i know that we need to get rid asap... help!!!
