 :rotfl: at the number of DVD's being mentioned here! We have about 70, and I still think that is about 20 to many (although I did declutter 50 videos and about 7 DVDs to charity recently). Have joined LoveFilm and am hoping will persuade OH to part with some more films, and not buy any more. Books on the other hand, well I have thousands of those
Started early this morning - whilst poking my head in the bathroom cabinet I decided to use up our small shower gel samples etc, and also binned some dried out cream, a free eye mask I've never used, bits of packaging and other things I can't even remember now they have gone in the bin. When getting dressed I spied a bikini I've not worn in 5 years and is the wrong size now, only kept it because I didn't want to 'waste my money' - in the charity bag! Off to work now, but if I could get rid of 7 things every morning like this I'd been on a winner!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Not started this morning yet , I was going to go out but its raining , so have now officially become a decluttering recluse for the day . I am currently sat alone working on decluttering a bowl of porridge and lemon curd. Will do the hospital bag in a mo. TBH , all my cluttering energy is draining away with the last (hopefully) 20 days of my pregnancy. I will try and get round to DS wardrobe today . The man who is supposed to be fitting a wardrobe round the boiler has not yet got back to me , and I need to contact the tax office and sort my tax out today . Ohhhh so much to so .ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0

Although I had reached my 100 target at the weekend, I have carried on the decluttering while I am in the mood.
I have sorted more out upstairs, and now finding my craft room again. I got rid of about 20 kids books last night that I had planned to use for scrapbooking - but again one of those things I have been meaning to use for about 12 months but not found time for. If I need them again I will go round the charity shops again. I must remember to only buy stuff from charity shops that I am going to use iminently, rather than put away for later. That is how I've got in the mess I am in!!
Got rid of an old shelving unit and some tins and baskets I no longer need and a sit on toddler toy I can't even remember where I got it from.
DS4 has lots of stuff no longer used, so will start sorting through his stuff later. I bought 3 storage boxes last week for the kitchen shelves which won't fit - I forgot the radiator was in front of them, lol. So I am going to use them in DS4 bedroom under his bed. He is actually decluttering some of his computer/DS/PS2 games as he finds that he can get a bit of money for them, so can buy 1 new one from some of his older ones. So that is progress.0 -
Well I managed to sort through my wardrobe last night - didn't get rid of very much in the way of clothes but have persuaded myself to part with several pairs of shoes which have been worn once at most and are too small for me - must stop buying shoes thinking they will stretch!!! So I now have four piles - Ebay, charity shop, 'to be mended' and 'to be cut up for fabric scraps' (which is just moving around rather than decluttering really but at least they'll get used now!). I also decluttered my nail varnish box, chucking all the old clumpy ones, and my jewellery box.
By the time I'd done all that it was 9 o clock and I couldn't face sitting looking at my photos. Aiming to carry on with the clothing declutter tonight with the drawers so I'll see how long that takes and maybe have a go at the photos tonight.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
sorry I've got to ask... how do the pair of you order numbers differently? I'm just being nosey!
But I'll be wondering about it all night if I don't ask!
Ok, if it were me I would start at 0 and put them in numerical order, e.g 1, 35, 78, 99, 304, 2000, 3400
OH does it differently, by looking at the 1st digit (like doing it alphabetically), then the secong digit etc. Therefore his are numbered according
e.g. 1, 2000, 304, 3400, 35, 78, 99
My system sees the numbers increase in size, whereas his goes in numerical order, but only using the 1st digit - drives me mad cos I KNOW my way is right! I just don't get it because he's so precise about the alphabetical ones. I did explain it to him once and I suspect that he realised that of course I'm right, but doesn't want to admit it :rotfl:
Back to the decluttering - not done a lot this morning as I've been stressing about my ex and the various problems he's causing me - but that's a whole other thread!
I've decluttered some bits for recycling though, and once DD2 is at playgroup this afternoon I shall get on and hopefully cross another area off my listExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

cat04- I think your way is right, too !
Billie-jo - I am so sorry about your dog (hug)
Well, I still have DS1 off school, and I am not feeling that great myself, now (but that could be because I am cooped up with him, and have been up in the night with him) so no decluttering has happened.
I did manage to send a video game I'd sold on Amazon, and I found some random odds and ends of vitamins so I have put them all in the kitchen (which is where I take vitamins) so I can use them up before I buy anymore.
I have a feeling my paperwork is going to be a monster - and someone mentioned photos - I do need to have a look through those, as well. But apart from that, I am done. Until the next time!
Keep going everyone, great work!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
Decluttering - January 2024 - 89 physical objects, over 700 emails/digital decluttering 🎊 🏅🏅0 -
Well it was 2nd time lucky with the mirror - sold it at lunch time so 1 thing out and £5 in. I made a profit on buying them originally I think (Was a really good glitch in Boots a couple of years ago) and I love my new one so happy all round.
So my update is:
In:- Waitrose voucher from Times that I got mum to send, in purse to spend on Friday
- Book OH ordered through amazon marketplace at New Year.
- 500 points added to boots card as wrong products in gift set I got in sale, meant only cost 250 points - result!
Out:- Mirror
- 6 lip glosses, 1 creamy eye shadow and 1 tinted moisturiser, all old and of dubious quality so out they go!
- More food used up today for lunch too - emptying the freezer of random leftovers a bit!
- Also popped a make up bag I found that was from a Boots GWP into my charity bag trying to fill it by the weekend and so I can take it in to a charity shop.
- Hopefully our recycling will be collected today, wasn't yesterday
Will also try and find another 5 things for the charity bag tonight.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Thank you, and thank you to Doolallydilly too. I KNEW I was right, and am greatful for the confirmation
Still been busy with 'ex stuff' so not done alot this afternoon, but am looking forward to decluttering the contents on the slow cooker soon, and once the kiddies are in bed I MIGHT make a start on the paperwork. I have 2 of those 'things I can't remember what you call them' - document file box things with different sections. One is for bank account etc, and the other for bills etc. Need to add to them and declutter at the same time.Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000
