  • OMG! I thought my OH was bad, he probably has about 500 and they take up sooooo much room. How do you 2 store them?

They are stacked (in alphabetical order) in four bookcases in the sitting room.

I've just finished cataloguing them.I've got 1033 dvds of which 982 are films.(Note to self: DO NOT BUY ANY MORE DVDS!!!!)There are quite a few that I haven't actually watched yet.I plan to watch one new film every week.It might take a while...;)

We have 2 bookcases from Argos in the living room with the BR's on, and then more lying horizontal across the top of each shelf.

We are lucky in that when we bought the house there was an extension on the side of a garage, utility and 4th bedroom. This has an unusual alcove bit that fits exactly 3 Argos bookcases in it in a horseshoe shape and these ones are full of DVDs - films and tv series etc. The rest of the room is used as a 'playroom' i.e. kids dumping ground for anything we tell them to tidy in the rest of the house lol. That is up there as one of my worst rooms to declutter and tidy...

OH is quite anal about it bless him. All the films are in alphbetical order, starting with numbers (although he does his numbers different to how I would lol). We got loads of DVDs from our local Cash Converters when they did months long offers for £2 each (marked up at £3.99) or 10 for £10. I dread to think how much we spent in there...but I guess it was better than paying full price!! We watch LOADS of films. OH would watch one every night if I let him :rotfl:

sorry I've got to ask... how do the pair of you order numbers differently? I'm just being nosey! :o But I'll be wondering about it all night if I don't ask!

ok...back to decluttering. not been at all thorough today - just managed to fling a few random things to bring my total up to 100!

    98. cardboard (that I was keeping in case it came in handy)
    99. pile of paper
    100. empty honey jar that I've been trying to soak label off (recycled)

probably no-one else will notice that my house has 100 less bits of useless gibble in it - but it's started me off in the right direction. I've also discovered a lot of useful things I didn't know I had!
    weaving through the chaos...

Not had much time last few days but hope to turf more out tomorrow.
Have got rid of the following though -

    1 broken lamp - bin
    4 place mats (never used) - c.s.
1 book - given to neighbour
sons suit (too small) - c.s.

Sadly had to bin the following as had to have my dog put to sleep -
    1 basket - bin
    2 blankets - bin
Ah my heart sank as I read that. Even if I repeat to myself for our beloved doggie - no pain now, no pain - I still cry my eyes out. Huge hugs to you xxx :A

decided I'm going to stop getting the next directory - I've always known it's a waste of money but I viewed it as no more expensive than buying a magazine. but I really don't need a hard copy as I can look online if I want to buy anythiing. having a paper copy lying around just encourages me to buy things I don't need.
    (snip)
Good idea! I've now cancelled a magazine subscription cos (a) no incentive to renew, gift or anything and (b) clutter.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi, kind if an update on things: My Mum told me my stepfather's workmate is recycling stuff inc pc's, mobile phones and is planing a trip to Africa with them, so she plans to come down and take my pc in a few weeks when she has a week off work (I may get the local techie guy who visits my building to disconnect things properly so mum doesn't accidentally damage something I need to keep like my router!). I told her she can take the video too, tho I may change my mind about that as I still have my beloved Only Fools & Horses videos that I don't want to just dump as it took me a while to collect and some are in special tins, but everyone probably has the episodes on DVD and probably not many have video players now. Last Sunday I was going to list some DVD's and my OFAH video collection on ebay when it was free listing, but when trying to list my first DVD it told me i didn't have an Automatic Payment Method (or something like that) set up and said to use Paypal and a one-off payment for setting it up would then be taken from my account, but I already have PP and tho I have not sold on ebay for a few years I have used PP on other sites, so I think I need to email PP to see what is going on before I list again.

Recently de-clutter tasks have involved sorting my handbags into the IKEA basket I have (too many big handbags and basket not the right size for them lol), throwing out an empty box and a shoe box I think has been in my wardrobe for about 2 years{!) and binning some blank video tapes and old cassettes,,,,that is progress for me lol!

Tomorrow I will sort out the few books I have and give to my local library.
