I just opened the postbox and there was a NSPCC charity bag to fill. Must be an omen.
I am about to my home on the market after 26 years of living here due to a marriage break up and lot of debt. ( Thats another story I wont go into here) Anyway DD has just started a new job and is moving out in the next few weeks and as I said house needs to be sold.
So today I will start by filling that charity bag and I have already cleared out my handbag this morning.
    Will keep you posted.

It's the '100 things in 10 days challenge'. Basically 100 things need to leave the house in this timescale (wherever possible), so stuff can be recycled, freecycled, taken to charity shop, given away to family/friends, taken to the tip or binned.

You can set your own challenge and report back on your progress, but I'm going for this one as 10 things a day is achievable for me (even though I'm three things behind from yesterday - going to see what I can find to go into the charity bag now!)
  • I'd like to join too, please. House bursting at seams and 5 of us with loads of stuff packed into it. We can't need it all.

Have plenty to give away, but some I need to sell - have never sold on ebay before, so I'm going to be brave and give it a try this month. It can't be that difficult, can it?

Right, off to make a start attempting to find the dining room floor.

I'm new to this but as I've had to give up work due to my health I'm up for saving money, making money and decluttering! No idea how forums work but like the idea of decluttering 100 things in 10 days as the house is a tip. Count me in whatever I need to do!!!

I'm sure even I can get motivated enough to sort 10 things a day!

....100 things in 10 days sounds good to me - count me in please:D

    Got a vague plan:
    • Recycle books via online bookstore, sounds like BAmazn - double whammy cos I might make a bob or two and it will help declutter the tichy spare room
    • Donate/bin the books I can't re-BAmazn
    • Donate unwise 'bargain buy' clothes - all unworn (almost a dustbin bag full) to Charity Shop
    • Recycle/bin old kn*ck*r*d clothing
I reckon that's easily 100. Can't wait to start. Feel all motivated and excited :rotfl:

  • I haven't been counting my things, oops!

Got into my son's bedroom today, while he is at school, and found several hats and an outgrown sweatshirt for the charity shop, plus some bits of rubbish for recycling.

I've also found an old (film) camera and am wondering about selling it - I don't like Ebay, so I'm not sure what my options are ....
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

  • Hi,

Just been taking a look at your thread. It's great and has made me think I need to get this house organised. Felineprincess I also live in a two up two down house and storage is a problem we need to overcome. Well the other half does as he will be building some! We also have no attic. I have two small boys too so toys seem to take over at the moment.

Please could I join and maybe you will all motivate me to work hard this year.
