Todays outs: recycling bin full of stuff, black bin 1/2 full of rubbish and food bin absolutely overflowing
. Am really cross with Asda because I bought a packet of pears and 1kg of carrots. This was on the Wednesday. On the Friday I went to get a piece of fruit and the pears were absolutely rotten through. 2 days- not even that really. They weren't wrapped, they were in a fruit bowl. Then on Monday evening, I went to get carrots out for tea and they had turned to slime. Both lots of things that had rotted had turned everything else with them into slush too. I went into Asda and complained and they said I should keep all of my fruit and veg in the fridge. They gave me a £2 gift card. I'm so cross. What a waste of food and a waste of my money.
I'm going to have to resort to buying frozen veg now. It's silly, you don't need to store potatoes, carrots, parsnips etc in the fridge. Morning all
Today my OH will put together our newly bought bathroom cabinett so that I can remove all the toiletries in the bathroom window. We both need to continue to use up our toiletries before buying anymore.
I want to sort a couple of drawers in the kitchen that are driving me mad and unpack a few more boxes.
Yesterday I had a good day. I had a a day off from work to catch up with sorting out the house after we moved in a few weeks ago. My mum and sister are coming to stay with us in a couple of weeks time and I feel under pressure to make the house look ok. The best thing I did yesterday was to sort out what I am going to wear for a wedding, hen weekend and fancy dress party this summer. I was thinking that I need to buy some new clothes instead I went throught the wardrobe and managed to sort out to wear from the clothes that I already have. Great result and no money spent. Later on in the year I need to spend some time to go through the wardrobe and give to charity what I don't need.

Well last night I went through all my box files and threw out a big pile of old paperwork that I no longer need.
But I went shopping today and bought a few new things...so a lot more has come into the house today! I bought a new bucket for washing the car, e-cloths for the kitchen, tablemats (all purple, need to be co-ordinated) and some food for dinner tonight. Of course, I did go to Tesco for a packet of spaghetti and spent £16 on various food and a new spaghetti spoon.
Like many others, I need to get through all of the toiletries that have built up in the cupboard, and birthday cards/wrapping paper...I've got boxes full! Of course, I have bought Really Useful Boxes for keeping everything in, so I don't feel too bad, because the clutter is nicely organised
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I have had a good sorting out day today. The new bathroom cabinett got screwed together this morning and all the stuff in the window is now in the cabinett. I have sorted out some of the drawers.
I also managed to go through my stash of plastic bags, some of them I will take back to the supermarket to have them recycled. I also picked out some plastic bags that would be handy for the bathroom bin and have hidden them underneath our ottoman in the bedroom so next time I empty the bin I don't need to go downstairs to find a suitable bag. All the other plastic bags are now kept neat and tidy in the plastic bag holder that I bought in IKEA a few years ago. Sorting out the plastic bags made such difference in the kitchen.
Enjoy your Saturday evening. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Hello folks,
I've not posted on here for ages. And boy does the house show it. OH has been unwell for weeks so I know that knocks things off track a bit. I need to stop being so annoyed with myself and just start again.
I think I may try a slightly different tack today. I will think I will scoop clutter from surfaces into a box then sit outside sorting the box. Then at least I don#t feel I've missed out on the much better weather today.
Congrats to Rosieben on sorting your flat :T
Right I need to crack on with:
- washing - it's a nice day outside so that will speed things up
- decluttering - I've spotted some bits in the kitchen which are a bit tired and need to go.
Ok - so my target today is to get rid of 50 things. And I'm not counting anything that is recycled/binned as it should normally be. Ooh harsh!

In: 2 pairs of slippers, a dress, a bra, food shopping, a jar of hair styling stuff I won and a couple of free samples.
Out: Old pair of slippers which are bigger than the other 2 put together, an entire wheelie bin of rubbish, and a LOT of recycling.0 -
Mineallmine,
Hope your OH feel better soon. Don't be too annoyed with yourself it's one of those things at least you can do something today.
Lucky you that you have got nice weather where you are. In the southwest its pouring down with rain. My washing is drying in the guest bed room. At least I don't have to water the garden today! No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Morning all,
My plan for today is to unpack another 2 boxes and iron the washing from yesterday. I hope that my OH will screw together the wardrobe in the guest bedroom to make that room look a bit tidier.
When we go food shopping later today I will buy some black colour dye to use on a pair of black trousers that has lost some of its colour.
Last night I managed to sort out the last drawer that was annoying me in the kitchen. Having untidy drawers really annoys me.
I am off to have a shower in a minute to treat my scalp and am planning to use up some the products that are nearly used up so that I can throw them in the bin.

Hello
I'm onto proper decluttering now I've only got a week til I get the keys for a new flat. I do have both places for a while though so it's not as bad as it sounds! And I'm scarily free/unemployed from midday Monday once uni stuff is over.
Trying to make progress on the office today. Battling with the idea of getting rid of uni notes. Realistically I'm not going to use them but I'm kinda attached! I used wikipedia instead of dragging out old notes when they could have been useful anyway.
I also have a ridiculous amount of stationery. I should get rid of some but I don't think I could do anything other than throw away a lot of the surplus and it seems wasteful. I've tried freecycle.0 -
Hi MarzipanFish,
I finished uni last year and have been working for about 6 months now, just bought my 1st house.
I've NEVER looked at my uni notes again!! I threw out everything that I could find online instead. I've kept one small box of stuff, essays and things that I'm particularly proud of! But most of it went in the bin.
I've also got loads of stationery, I'm trying my best not to buy any more stuff, and just use up what I have, and I'm going to give some to my wee sister who is studying for her highers just now.
Good luck with the move next week! xxAll you need is less0
