School holidays over, so last week we got rid of a huge bag of rubbish. Got a huge bag of outgrown clothes to go to a friends (hopefully tonight) and managed to do some decorating, not bad for a week. Probably wont get much more done until the summer holidays.

    Happy decluttering X

Not much done over the past few days, but I did get 180 items listed on ebay over the weekend, I got some of my ironing done and put away (still got a pile on each armchair though, lol!), and got some washing done.

This week I will be mostly cleaning and decluttering my dad's house ready for his move, which will hopefully be happening in the next week or two, so I won't have much time to do my own. We made a start on it this afternoon, and OH needed a wallpaper scraper to take some ceiling tiles off, he was really impressed that he was able to find the scraper in seconds as our shed is still so well organized, unlike a few months ago when it would have probably taken about an hour, lol!

So today, I deep cleaned the bathroom including floor, blind and window. I deep cleaned the kitchen including floor and window. I finished the last of my star blocks for my quilt. I did a load of washing and hung it out (still on the line :o). I finished grouting the tiles :D. I have put up half of the window frame. Will do the other half tomorrow but need to go and get some more because the bit I have isn't long enough to do the side bit so I can't put up the top bit. There will be enough of that left over for me to frame the window around the utility room window. Then the tube of adhesive can be finished off in attaching the pvcu around the kitchen window.
Tiles not gone yet, I ran out of time. They're on the side ready to go out to the car so will do that tomorrow morning. I'll need the space so I can put up the window frames.
Will put away the washing tomorrow and need to tidy our bedroom and get rid of the gibble which has collected on the chair. I need to get the chair cleared so that I can actually get rid of it.

I was happily able to cross off a fair amount of todays to do list and a few things from my long term house to do list which resides on the fridge :D.
Looking forward to painting the utility room but think that that will have to be done on Thursday. I can't wait to get the rest of the paint clutter out of the loo.
DD mentioned in passing that a neighbour keeps repainting where their bath has leaked so I may pop down tomorrow and offer them the last of my damp proof paint as I have used what I needed and it's expensive. Will have to phrase it delicately though as I don't want to offend her.
Had a helper today for all of my jobs, darn cat was under my feet most of the time when I was cleaning. She misses everyone when they go back to school and work but never stays in when they're here. Funny thing!
    Night all. Happy decluttering :)

We ended up going out both days at the weekend which made a nice change, only a couple of ins too, a fleecy top for me as it was hot and sunny when we left home first thing and cold, windy and wet when we got to wear we were going - fail! and OH bought a small model kit.

    Then some good outs:
1 DVD sold on Amazon, only put on last week, and jiffy bag.
8 Guiding related items sold on another forum and assorted resused packaging materials.

Been and posted them all today, have a few more bits to be paid for then I'll get the money out of paypal, repay the current account postage costs and put the remainder in my stuff sold fund - if we do move I intend to use this to pay towards any new furniture we need.

In today some more canvas and threads so I can start to do more sewing, it keeps me quiet and is a productive thing to do I think.

Finally got rid of the tiles today. The charity shop didn't want them :( so I took them to the reusables section at the tip. Whilst in the charity shop, I spotted large blankets for £1 each. I only had £2 on me so I got 2 but I will go back for the rest tomorrow as I can use them for quilting. I've lots of quilts to make for this Christmas.

I've been on a mad declutter for the last 3 months and finally today took the lot to the local charity shop-
-3 binliners of clothes and old sports bag of OH's clothes
-box of A4 and lever arch files left over from clearing out old uni notes
-2 big boxes of old paperbacks
-binliner of old CDs and DVDs that weren't worth selling online
    -2 wicker storage boxes

    and to the skip
-2 old duvets -yellowing and lumpy
    -broken slow cooker
-broken drain cover and mouldy pillow

and to the Post Office after selling on ebay
-6 old football shirts from OH
    -old ipod
-2 pairs shoes that hurt my feet
    -nail polish
    -minidisc player and assorted minidiscs
    -Levis
    -2 skirts
    -2 designer handbags

I've still got some more clothes and rare books to sell next time there's a free listing weekend. My aim for this year is to sell and donate as much as possible so I can spend less time cleaning and maintaining my home and more time enjoying life. So far in the last 3 months I've raised over £500 on ebay, which I've used to buy the land behind my house. So I now own 940square foot of land to grow my own organic veg and spend more time outside relaxing. I'd love to be an extreme minimalist and only own stuff I really needed and be surrounded by empty space - I think it would be make me feel free and empowered.

Oh wow skint_chick what a fine thing to do with your ebay sales money. I would love to do something like that but there's no land near me, it's all been built on.
I've cut the last 12 blocks for my quilt and will sew them together tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting it on the bed :D

Managed to have another sift though what ive got and managed to charity shop a carrier bag of clothes plus a few odds and sods that i had lurking indoors.
I find it quite something as fast as i seem to shift stuff, i end up with the same plus more appearing if im not carefull.
Most of it seems to be junk i think i might need or general toot that sits their for ages if im not carefull.
Im getting thier and better gradually. Just to get some storage i can work with for what im keeping?

Haven't been doing much/any decluttering recently for various reasons, but as the mess is getting me down it's time to restart. So, today I have sorted:

    Bin/recycle
Bottle of shower gel (old and had separated)
    two catalogues & a brochure
    old pillow

    Charity
Two bags of clothes (11 tops, 2 pairs trousers, 1 nightie, 1 pair pyjamas, 1 cloth bag, 1 jumper, 1 dress)
    15 books

    Green Metropolis
    15 books

Despite my efforts earlier in the year and a concerted effort not to bring unnecessary stuff into the house, it just isn't denting it. It's a nightmare, and after a family death a couple of months ago I'm all too aware that at some point in the next few years I'm going to inherit a lot of stuff. I'm desperate to move somewhere bigger, but OH is happy where he is and just doesn't get it (and is difficult to get to do any decluttering of his own).

I hope you all are doing well with your decluttering.

I have been absent from this thread for nearly a month now while we have moved from a 2 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house. It's great having so much more space. I have barely thrown anything away but am determined to not buy anymore. I still have several folders with paperwork to go through and possibly shred. In the new house we have a log fire so we have bought a log maker to make logs with from shredded paper. We are aiming to build a big stock of these logs up during the Summer months.

For the next few months we will spend time decluttering in the garden, to make it look more tidy and also continue to unpack boxes in the new house.
