My girls are back sometime this morning (the ex is being vague as flaming usual - wish I could declutter him from my life!!) and will bring them 3 days worth of washing, teddies, bikes and more than likely a bag of tat from the ex-inlaws lol.

I'm in the process of using up the contents my freezer as it is well past needing to be defrosted, once that's been done I'll be able to fit more batch baking etc in.

The last ebay item has just been collected which was a large box. I've had an email from ebay saying it's another free listing weekend this weekend so I know what I'll be doing again! Still got lots of goodies to sell. I give things 3 chances and if they don't sell it's either added to the car boot box for a couple of tries then sent to the charity shop. I would usually send it straight to the CS but we could do with the pennies at the moment.

Over the next couple of days I'm going to get the girls to help me:
Sort out all the bedding and towels in the airing cupboard
empty and sort out all the kids clothes - drawers and wardrobe (DD1 LOVES doing this!) and make a list of anything that they 'need' - should be short.
Do some sorting out in the play room
    Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

    Morning All

Am back from weekend away, all rested and full of chips and bicardi.

Following my not-quite-able-to-reach-stated-target (I won't say failure) during May, am going for 200 things in June!

My ironing pile has it's own post code, so will have several ironing sessions over the next week or so. I WILL take it upstairs and put it away the same day it's been ironed and not leave it on the ottomon. Think I'll count each put-away pile as one item.

    Wednesday 1st June

#1.... four pairs of shoes removed from trip-uppable part of bedroom and put in formerly empty shoerack !

#2.... empty loo rolls put in recycling

#3&4. suitcases put in loft (previously put there a couple of weeks ago, got back down for weekend away)

#5.... bag of general rubbish to dustbin ready for tomorrow

#6.... cans, plastic & bottles to recycling bin ready for tomorrow

#7.... newspapers blah blah recycling blah blah tomorrow

    a good start.....

    Hello all
It's been a while since I participated in a decluttering thread but rest assured, I am winning the battle against the evil clutter.
I've put some items aside to be eBay'ed, a bag has been left outside for charity and collected, and I am binning and recycling on an ongoing basis; this afternoon I have a session planned sorting the wardrobe again.

It started when someone posted about throwing textiles in the bin. I'm all for decluttering but just throwing it all in the bin has a negative impact on the planet and often other people can benefit from stuff you no longer need.

I found this thread very helpful but unsubscribed when I kept reading about things going into landfill when they could be recycled. We've all heard the phrase "one man's rubbish is another man's treasure"...eBay and freegle are your friends declutterers!

I am delighted to see that you've made a point about the environment and am going to rejoin!

  • I have been on a mission this past week or so to de-clutter a little too - have made good headway with my own belongings (one and a half bin bags filled for charity shop) and I have also a big pile of stuff to Ebay - listed half of it - the rest to do this weekend, but I am struggling with the rest of the house - my childrens rooms in particular - trying to get them to part with anything is near on impossible!
I am hoping that by decluttering, my house will feel calmer and easier to keep clean and tidy (it is a very large house, but even so can often feel messy)

In: Food shopping, a Graze box, a new Nectar card and Aveeno products (freebies in the mail)
Out: A whole bag of rubbish, some packaging, 2 old tea towels and I've eaten half of the contents of the Graze box...

10 ebay parcels posted today, so another 10 jiffy bags also gone, and took my dad's laundry back to him, but still didn't get around to doing my ironing which is in a huge pile on the armchair. I must try to do some tomorrow, but I'm working in the morning and got dentist in the afternoon, so I'll have to see how I feel when I get home.

I have tiled my utility room this morning so that's 1.5 boxes of tiles stuck to the wall. I now have 5.5 boxes of the same tiles left over and 2 half boxes of different colours of tiles. I have sent my friend a text offering them to her along with the left over adhesive. If she doesn't want them, they'll go on freecycle or to the charity shop. The adhesive needs to be used up soon though because it's starting to dry up.
At least the tiles will get used at some point then :)
