I completely cleared under the bed today and I did a load of hoovering. It's looking impressive0
-
On Friday I took the 35 envelopes in to work, which I sorted on Thursday, yesterday OH took all our recycling to the recycling centre and took to the CS 1 box, 2 bags, a CD storage cabinet and a VHS storage cabinet, now we've got a nice empty space in the shed. Today I've shredded all the paperwork I sorted out on Thursday, (filled and emptied the shredder twice), filed some paperwork and done 2 loads of washing.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Oh, I can't remember whether I mentioned 2 ebay parcels out!0

I'm now surveying the 4 loads of washing leering at me from the laundry basket.
I can't stand to look at it so I'm going to go and do it in a minute.
I may pop back later to gloat that I've done it all but that's quite unlikely!
Well, quite true, I didn't pop back to gloat. I did manage to get it all done though and I still had time to cut out another two squares for my quilt top so I'm a happy bunny. That didn't leave me with enough time to come back and gloat because I had to tidy it all away and take DH to collect his car on my way to work.
I'm now going to try and get another couple of squares cut out too before I go to bed. It's too nice to go to sleep yet but I really must because I'm working again tonight. Last night tonight though so if I want to stay up and fiddle tomorrow, I canDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Not done an awful lot of decluttering as such this weekend, but have been quite busy round the house. Between us (but mostly me!) me and OH have done:
Spare room:
swept up and cleared floor & binned - me
sanded window sill, radiator, door, door frame (replacing skirting board so one less thing to sand!) - me
sugar soaped the afore mentioned paintwork - me
cleaned window/frame inside and out - me
removed and recycled plastic wire casing - OH
Emptied, cleaned and boxed up electric wallpaper stripper as longer needed in this room - OH (I cleaned it though!)
When suagar soaping this morning I looked up to do the window and realised that I hadn't sanded down the wooden baton above the window that you screw the pole onto. Enter expletive - grrr. Thought I was all ready to start painting - double grrr
Also emptied upstairs bins, recycled loo roll inner, cleaned bathroom and made it sparkle with sugar soap, recycled some junk mail and a few bits from the basket on the kitchen side, put washing on and hung out, and I'm now about to go and declutter my over flowing ironing basket. Where does it all come from? The DDs have been away since Sat afternoon and are due back tomorrow morning so it's not like they've been producing anything recently (until they come back, hell will freeze over before the ex or his partner wash their clothes lol), but most of it is theirs, plus some bedding and I only did a basket full the end of last week grrr again!
All my ebay things have been posted, one collected and the last thing being collected tomorrow so that's several things gone from the houseExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

As we've had lots of newbies recently - welcome to all - I thought I'd repost something that Mineallmine, myself and a couple of others started putting together earlier this year. Feel free to quote and add to it if you have any further suggestions.
It started when someone posted about throwing textiles in the bin. I'm all for decluttering but just throwing it all in the bin has a negative impact on the planet and often other people can benefit from stuff you no longer need.
"So here's an updated list for find new homes for some of our stuff:
Good clothes ....ebay, boot sale, freecycle or charity (or friends kids)
Not so good clothes ....textile recycling (some charity shops collect for what they call the rag bag man)
Coat hangers - some Tesco stores have coat hanger recycling too if you find you have too many of these.
Used batteries ....every shop that sells batteries should have a bin for collecting old batteries (noticed that Aldi have these near the tills)
Odd PC bits/cables ....ebay, freecycle
Oddments of paint/decorating stuff ....freecycle
Shredded paper ....compost bin, to a furry friend
Unused/unwanted toiletries ....ebay, charity, homeless shelter or womens refuge
Old furniture ...ebay, charity shops that sell/have room for this stuff, garage sale, or simply left outside with a sign on - saying please take me I;m free!
Dead low energy light bulbs - our local tip takes these, or sainsbury's collection points
Details are here: http://www.recolight.co.uk/My-Recoli...for-Consumers/ (although bank locator not totally accurate)
Ratty old towels - animal rescue centres/vet surgeries will take them, as bedding for the animals
Unwanted prescription glasses - most opticians have a recycling box to put these in - they go to Africa, I think someone on here said. Our optician doesn't keep it near the door, as people use it as a bin, so you might have to ask.
Bras - in good condition - http://www.breasttalk.co.uk/bra-appeal/ (I seem to remember someone else posting another website too)
Tetra packs - have noticed our local council have recycling banks for these at some car parks
Carrier bags/plastic packaging e.g. fruit and veg bags - many can be recycled at supermarkets - check the print on the bag (I'm actually a no to carrier bags person but if you have a stock pile do recycle them).
Feel free to add to this list everyone so we can help one another get rid of stuff responsibly.

So a few ins this weekend but a few outs too:
In Dress and top my mum bought me to wear to a wedding & my OH's graduation this year, we met up in London and did a bit of shopping, well she bought us each an outfit!
She also gave me Private Eye as she'd read it, will be read and recycled.
Got some badges for Brownies and Guides, these will be passed on to girls/other leader soon.
Nothing of consequence in the post recently, a badge for me, bank statements, magazine - that's it. Packaging all recycled.
Out:
Used leftovers to make a few days worth of lunch, and contents of freezers/fridge and cupboards going down.
Recycling bins emptied inside and council ones put out this morning.
Lemonade bottles from Guides have gone to OH's boss for her allotment.
Finished a clinique mini tube of face scrub cream - in recycling.
Spent too much time sewing this weekend - oops!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I've just (well, almost- 3hrs to go) finished my nights so will be off to bed for a bit when I get home. I made DH take the day off today so I could sleep so I'll get him to go up into the loft and get out the tile cutter.
At the moment, my newly decorated (very tiny) downstairs loo is full of paint pots and tiles etc. If I can pull my finger out and get the tiling done when I get up today, I can get rid of any left over tiles as they won't be used because I'll have FINISHED THE TILING! I should then be able to grout it a couple of days later and that will be lots of boxes and a couple of tubs gone. I can then move on to painting which will get rid of a few more tubs.
I was looking at my kitchen and the window the other day. Goodness me, it needs a blimmin good clean and a good paint job. That's my next room when the utility is done. I can't wait to have got any of it into a good enough clear position to be able to make my blinds for the utility and loo.
When I do the kitchen, I will empty the cupboards and do a thorough menu plan too because I'm fed up of not being able to use my kitchen and the cupboards. They are just so full of stuff. It gets crammed into every cupboard and then falls out all the time. Pah!
Right, break time over, back to work I go.
