Where do you all live where you get loads of charity bags??

At my old house (nice area) we never had a single one in 15 years, and this new house(horrible area, dont know if this makes a difference) been here for 9months and had about 3 in total.

We get those fake charity ones every week, the ones who say, we give £40 for every ton (£800ish) we make, which I don't think is very charitable!

Anyway I need some more from real charities as I don't like giving to the ones who pray on peoples stupidity to not read the small print.

If you have any charity shops in your area, they may do a pick up service.
I used to manage a shop for the British Heart Foundation, and we would arrange a pick up from peoples houses if we were local enough with a man and van. Or you can usually take stuff to them directly.
when i was working we would get money for Rag if it was not suitable for us to sell, and that was approximately 50p a kilo in weight. So we liked big coats that were no good to make up the weight!! ha ha.
Infact we had regular customers who would actually tell us the stuff was Rag, and we would not have to sort it all out, just put it in the rag pen and get the weight funds for it. Every little bit helps!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

What a coincidence - inspired by this thread I tackled the shed today

Didn't find anything good but at least now I actually know what's in there!

Today I posted another ebay parcel, only a cd but better than nothing, and I tidied and cleaned the kitchen worktops. Not much gone out as such, but everything that was in there, which shouldn't have been, has now been taken to its rightful place, the tiles are shiny and clean, and I've got rid of a few cobwebs which I've been meaning to get rid of for a couple of weeks !

Day off tomorrow, so hopefully I will get a bit more sorted then.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to cover the cardboard box of my sewing machine with fabric. Wish me luck! I'd like it to look less cluttered on the new shelves which is silly because they aren't cluttered it's just a busy box! I also want the box to last a long while because it's a perfect fit onto the shelf and it has a carry handle.

Bit of a fail for me too. Clearly, my kitchen was even more cluttered than I thought :( I thought I could finish it in one day but it wasn't the case. Not only I didn't but on top of that the lounge looks like a bomb site with all the boxes and stuff from the kitchen :(

Good news though, our wedding gifts are being delivered Tuesday next week and they should all fit nicely and neatly in the kitchen (hopefully!).

Next room will be the lounge, then the bedroom and bathroom and finally the garage and the garden. And then we will be able to invite our wedding guests one couple at a time for a homemade meal to thank them for their generosity :) That's what keeps me going today while faced with the mess I created yesterday :(

Ok - mixed success last night:

    • Get those bits in a bag for the charity shop ready to take when I'm next in town - in a pile, less than I thought need to get looking
    • Wash the bedding that needs doing and if possible the jeans too bedding washed and bras too instead of jeans.
    • Get the rest of the stuff off the settee did a bit more, need to crack this when I get home late tonight.
    • Do some baking (not decluttering really but I want to do it so I'll pop it on my list!) Done, and dishwasher emptied, refilled, stuff on drainer put away and new washing up done so quite pleased.
    • Try and finish our accounts so I can shred some more receipts and take the shredding OH emptied out the shredder for me at the weekend down to the garage, don't know why it needs to sit in the middle of the office floor.... didn't get that far, got distracted by tv instead - oops.
Need to go and sort out having Friday off later so I can really blitz stuff, OH is out in the evening so I'd have 14-15 hours at home on my own and I think I'm just going to have to do my best with things, otherwise we'll never get the house back ready to go on the market again, it's not that bad, we've just got slack at putting things away again.

Haven't bought anything since Friday so no ins really, post mostly junk/other bits filed.

I've been ultra-lazy with decluttering lately - totally lost my mojo. The giant mountain of plastic bags of stuff for the charity shop is down to three now (but it's been like that for three weeks). The other day I added ten books to my Green Metropolis account and by the time I'd finished listing them three of them had sold - all environmental textbooks, to the same person - I was very pleased with that! I'm saving for a new camera lens so I'm going to try and sort more books for Green Metropolis this afternoon and am considering Ebaying some stuff. I'm a bit of a charity shop addict, so when I see something I want but talk myself out of buying it I'm adding the money to my camera lens fund - saves adding clutter to the house and I'm contributing to saving for the thing I really want.
