The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Cleared out my kitchen dresser this evening. Now feeling virtuous... even if it did only take 15 minutes - I was ruthless
I managed to list some crafting books on Amazon so that's the first baby step towards clearing out the craft room. Hung a shelf thing for my hats & scarves & gloves so I could clear them from the various drawers, surfaces they were on and into their proper space. Sold some more things on ebay then listed more. Sadly, the spare room continues to be cleared very, very slowly.
Great work all you other declutterers.Whatever0 -

I can think of one incident in the last 8 months when we have regretted getting rid of an item, and that was a 2 minute "oh dear, that's a shame":D All the rest of the items we've disposed of haven't been needed.
Mooloo
Ah. The acquiring of all sorts of crafty stash because it may be useful some day. I know that one, I'm really good at that!:D There are other selling sites such as Folksy and Etsy and I'm sure there are threads on these boards about selling; both sites are also useful for getting rid of spare materials.
Are there any craft fairs in your neighbourhood??
Is there a charity close to your heart that might require some things to sell to raise funds?
I am aiming to get a small business started up with my craft/sewing mostly and hope to be able to use the materials I have. However I sort of went a bit mad with what I have kept, having so many ideas of things i can recycle/make.
I think that I must give away to the local charity the clothes that I have not managed to restyle/turn into somethingelse! But as said. Its a horders nightmare.
Talking of nightmares thats why I am up now. Cannot sleep. usually in bed at 10pm at the latest and not surfaced again until about 6.30.
I shall suffer for it tomorrow too. But I am in a need to "declutter" my Brain tonight! Emotionally exhausted and running on empty, but the brain is running on Full! if you get what I mean.
Hopefully I can declutter my brain and get some sleep soon.! DGD will have me up at 6.30 and I wont be the happy smiley granny she wants!:DWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Was hardly home last night but did finally finish my shampoo this morning and so that tube is in the recycling (as is the shower gel OH finished yesterday but that bottle didn't make it into the recycling until it had help from me
)
Tonight I've got an unexpected few hours at home, even if it means an extra 30 mile round trip in the car, have decided 3 hours at home is worth the petrol costs (OH is busy doing something near where we work and where we're trying to move to).
So tonight I'm going to:- Get those bits in a bag for the charity shop ready to take when I'm next in town
- Wash the bedding that needs doing and if possible the jeans too
- Get the rest of the stuff off the settee
- Do some baking (not decluttering really but I want to do it so I'll pop it on my list!)
- Try and finish our accounts so I can shred some more receipts and take the shredding OH emptied out the shredder for me at the weekend down to the garage, don't know why it needs to sit in the middle of the office floor....
If I make a plan on here I'll hopefully log on at home and check how I've done.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I was rather forced into decluttering my bathroom as FIL is currently replastering walls/putting in new toilet/sink/heated towel rail!
Which means I will no longer have my huge vanity unit to dump my half used bottles and 100's of toilet rolls .
I managed to throw away 2 bags full of out of date medicines, beauty products of various types and bathroom junk. As well as the toilet brush, bathroom mats and old light shades (That came with the house and were rather horrid )
Recycled quite a few empty bottles too.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

You ladies are fantastic. What an inspirational thread!
I have just started doing a huge de-clutter in our very small one bedroom house. We just got married and were lucky to receive lovely useful gifts from our guests, and I really want to be able to make the most of it. That means the clutter has to go out!
I will take pictures of my progress and will post them when I am finished
I am a terrible hoarder, so it will take me a while but I will do it.
My husband (I just LOVE saying that now) and I have plans to improve storage in our house too, and I found some gems at our local second hand furniture shop to be turned into shabby chic items. BUT I will be ruthless and will only buy if a) it is useful, b) I can get rid of something in its stead first, c) it is a real bargain (we have to be careful).
I have a feeling it will do us the world of good to de-clutter like that.0 -
Im still battering on in my own little way so far this year ive....
sorted Dds wardrobe and taken its contents to the charity shop
cleared out the back room and rehomed all the stuff from there
also cleaned out the filing cabinet
i ought to say can i join again this year please
sorry i forgot my manners!!
I need to sort the master bedroom, the garage, the playshed and Dhs shed in the next month so we can do some reshuffling. We need to knock the garage down to form a driveway:eek:0 -
Blasted cat has just come in shouting her head off with something. I've sent DH to look as he's home for lunch
. He's currently under the table saying "I dunno what it is? She won't let go or move!". It looks like sphagmum (sp?) moss. She is currently spreading it around now so I'll have to clear that up later. Ran out of time to go into town so will do it later when MiL takes kiddies out (or stays in with them- whatever!).
I have made 3 cushions with my brown fabric so that's good. Where do you all live where you get loads of charity bags??
At my old house (nice area) we never had a single one in 15 years, and this new house(horrible area, dont know if this makes a difference) been here for 9months and had about 3 in total.
We get those fake charity ones every week, the ones who say, we give £40 for every ton (£800ish) we make, which I don't think is very charitable!
Anyway I need some more from real charities as I don't like giving to the ones who pray on peoples stupidity to not read the small print.0
