Hi mcculloch29!
I think i've just decluttered 100 things in 2 hours... I've sorted out my paperwork folder. I had tonnes of stuff in there like old car insurance policies.
I've also put a load of things into folders so it's already looking better0 -
Update for the week:
IN
summer top CS
running jacket &
running top Lidl
earphones (free gift)
OUT
2 X CS boxes to shop
Wheeled walking frame
Wheeled shopping stick
Took the walking frame & a shopping stick (both of which I just happened to have in the shed) to work. My offices are based in an Older People's organisation & I thought they might come in handy for someone. It was quite a challenge taking them in on the bus :rotfl:but I managed it :j.
Still haven't ordered that wardrobe - sometimes I find it very hard to make a simple decision. Kick up the bottom needed...Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

I'm a bit peeved to discover we're away when our local community hall has a table top sale as I've got LOADS I could get rid of. I'll try to get it sorted & boxed ready for the next time they have one or maybe get rid of some on eBay next time they have a free listing.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I've been very busy in the spare room today, and I've finally persuaded DS to let me get rid of some of the stuff he left here when he moved out (partly because he and his GF have a few money problems at the moment), but he needs to go through it to see what he wants to get rid of.
He's also OK'd me to throw out a load of old calendars and magazines, yay! So far I've got 24 calendars (which date back as far as 1999), and about a 2 foot high pile of magazines, but they're not the type of mag I could give to a doctor's surgery (IYSWIM, lol!) so they will have to go in recycling!
Most of these things were in the drawers under the bed, and I also found 14 Nintendo 64 games (ebay), and about 10 recordable videos (CS) in one of the drawers, so now they are empty I can store other stuff in there. I need to fix 3 of the drawers first, as they've collapsed under the weight of the magazines, but in the drawer that is in one piece I've stored the rest of DS's clothes, that were in a box beside the bed and a big bag, containing his collection of peaked caps, and another bag with a couple of jackets and a bath robe which were on top of the box, are now in the space where one of the drawers was.
Also shredded/recycled some more paperwork and cardboard, got a big box of stuff for CS, and put DS's star trek files neatly in a couple of boxes, which I may put in the shed until he comes to collect them.
I ran out of time and energy (started at 9am and stopped at 3.50pm and only had a 10 minute break for a coffee and no lunch), so the room still looks a tip, but at least I've got a lot of stuff ready to go, even if it hasn't all physically left the house.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Managed to recycle some magazines slowly getting through the pile.
An ebay parcel was sent today with some letters.
Socks with holes in have been binned0 -
hi again everybody, not been on for a while.Hope you're all well & progressing satisfactorily.
Mcculloch29 - good luck with the new heating.Hope it all goes smoothly.
this week has been the biggest declutter for a while- 2 small bags to CS, plus 1 wicker seat/basket thing. Have decluttered some darning - 3 and a half items so far, and the ironing was got all up to date (OH has now been semi-trained in use of the iron) .Last week swapped a couple of smaller pieces of furniture around upstairs - found a missing chess piece,11p & a sock that doesn't belong to us :rotfl:
The biggest thing that will happen in the next few weeks is that I will be taking back the Welsh dresser from my mother's house which was here before & so some of the surplus furniture from here will either go to them or maybe the furniture dealer, or somewhere else. Hopefully this will help store things properly with more floor space (and clear the dining room table which is still covered with things from the living room)

My son was off today and cleared the outhouse. We had TWO old vacuum cleaners in there - and we own two! - a huge amount of carp off shelving and floor was binned. So a very battered storage unit, actually a 'Toy Tidy' from the 80s, (what a rip-off that was) has been moved to the outhouse from a corner of the lounge/diner. It's stood there for at least the last 15 years. For ten years it's just held my son's magazine collection.
I bought a riser-recliner in December and the armchair that filled that space formerly has finally been moved out from blocking access to a radiator. It's going to be recycled.
Which means ...that our lovely cleaner can now clean the lounge, it was like an obstacle course before!:oErma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
A slow but steady week for me
Magnetic Reward Chart - school
Envelope of Buttons - school
Bag of junk (modelling) - school
Book - friend
8 ebay parcels posted (one contained a volcano and 56 figures - so an empty drawer in son's room so now have room to tidy more stuff away)
Sticker book & stickers - sent to Swapits
New Birthday Card and Christmas cards - friend (no longer appropriate to be sent by son to his friends)
Off to have a cuppa and then tackle a bit more filing and shredding and hopefully a bit more decluttering too
Keep up the good work everyone, I love this thread and find it so inspiring :TGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75
