The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Hello declutterers...
I'm attempting a wardrobe clearout but I'm doing terribly!
Does anyone else have a major problem with getting rid of stuff that's perfectly good and fits OK? I have way too much stuff but I just can't bring myself to part with things. Obviously there's stuff I like more than other stuff but I feel like I could wear any of it so it's hard to get rid of it 'just incase' I want to wear it.
But with over 100 tshirts/tops (i counted) I need to pare down before I move house (probably moving twice within the next 6 months
).
I just feel like shoving it all back under the bed0 -
Ooops, not done any more decluttering. The whites load which I hung on the line yesterday is still hanging there. I didn't feel very well last night so didn't get it in and it's now been raining all day
. I had to TD the load that was in the machine because I need DD's trousers for this evening.
I have a pile of washing sitting on the rug waiting to go upstairs. The cat has had a go at it and killed everything that looked like it needed it.
I did manage to get my sewing machine put away last night so that's a bit tidier. I still need to create a spot for it to live in though. I might get one for it this year if my hall stairs and landing ever gets done.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Sorted some more bits:
2 x blankets - a local homeless charity is after these so they will go to a good home.
1 x dog bed - off to a dog rescue place, and out of the garage.
Footie is on tonight so will not get OH's attention for his wardrobe. It is stuffed full of things...I've been experimenting with putting things away - and as much as possible leaving little or nothing "morning mess" for when I get home. It does help. :A

In
Four DVD boxsets (bought with Paypal money from selling other stuff)
New work trousers and scarf (seem to have a pretty scarf addiction...)
Out
Five items sold on Ebay/Amazon - posted today
Bag of clothes to charity shop
OH took bootload of stuff to tip (from garage)
Can't remember what else has gone out, but I do know it's more! Will try and update more regularly.0 -
After work today I took my dad's clean washing back to him, shredded/recycled some paperwork and cardboard, which will be collected tomorrow, and posted 15 ebay parcels, (mostly ps1 games and a couple of CDs) so that's another 15 old jiffy bags gone as well.
Got another 6 items to be posted, which finished today but awaiting another 2 payments, so will post them after work on Thursday if they've paid by then, as I'm hoping to tackle the spare room tomorrow, so probably won't go out.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I'm always amazed how people can spend so much time ironing. There's 5 of us here and two dogs - the washing machine goes on at least once a day - sometimes as many as 3 times in one day. I take clothes out of the washing machine as soon as the machine finishes...shake them and hang them up straightaway - either on coathangers in the bathroom or out on the line.
By doing this I find that often I dont need to iron a lot of the clothes. People seem horrified when I say this, but I can honestly say we dont look scruffy - with two teenage daughters they'd soon kick up a fuss if their clothes looked a mess.
Had a good day with ebay as all but one of my buyers paid for their items which ended on Sunday. So 9 parcels went out - with 11 items = a very welcome £30
Same here. We're a family of 5 and I don't even own an ironing basket. I take everything out the machine the second its finished and hang it out or TD it. Then its folded very very neatly (noone in my house can fold like me) and put away. And we all look very neat and tidy. Even school uniform and DH's shirts don't get ironed. Once in a blue moon I may iron a single item. Works for me.

Well I only managed about 25 things from the wardrobe / overflow suitcase in the end (15 CS & 10 ebay). I put aside a pile of 'maybes' I was too tired/indecisive to go through properly too. Another attempt soon I suppose!
Not had much luck selling clothes on ebay before but I feel I should try at least.
We never used to iron until OH started needing shirts for work. They never seem to come out of the wash/dryer creaseless0 -
Went through all our clothes and got rid of ones that don't fit etc - bagged them up and donated them to the local firefighters clothing bank.
Funny thing is, although there's a full dustbin-sized bag of them gone, it doesn't seem to have made any extra room on the hanging rails...

Am I ok to join up please? I have 2 houses worth of clutter to get rid of :00

Hello Mingle, good to see you over on here!
I have a completely new central heating system being installed next Thursday, will have to have a mighty de-clutter as all upstairs carpets have to be lifted for new pipework and all rads downstairs have to be accessible. I've already started in my office, unwanted files binned along with unnecessary work related stuff.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
