The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

ok, i am having a bad week.
i am starting to feel really down about the clutter. i am fed up of looking at the same things. being the only person who can put things away or clean. cleaning the same things. tidying up and just moving things from one place to the other. i am trying to get rid of things and then i find that items have been removed from bags and put back where they were. i feel like i have no support or appreciation for what i do or am trying to do and i feel like just giving up and doing nothing. my work contract ends at the end of this month and i have no idea if there is funding to keep it going or not - noone is telling me anything. so i have no idea whether i should be looking for another job or not. we are supposed to be getting married in oct and we have saved nothing and i have no idea how we are going to afford it especially if i end up getting shafted at work and have no job. and now my stepson is living with us 7 days a week, as much as i love having him with us, i get NO time to myself anymore. i feel unappreciated, both at work and home, and i feel like screaming.
i'm sorry to bring anyone down, i just had to let it out.xxDFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

cutiepie - good luck with the wedding too. x

Aw hugs cutiepie. It's horrible when you feel everything is on top of you right no and worse when you feel you're getting no help or support. It takes me weeks to persuade my DH to help me tidy up and I move things from one place to another without actually finding a place for it too - it does get you down.
Last night DH lost his wedding ring, well it's actually his engagement ring as he lost his original wedding ring a few years back, so this he was using as a replacement. Haven't got annoyed with him as hopefully it will just turn up, but we can't afford to replace it and not worth claiming on house insurance for - was a beautiful ring too.
On a plus though, this made me laugh, he decided to look inside the sofa for it, incase it fell inside it. So he tipped it up and cut underneath (it's on it's last legs anyway) - no ring and no loose change, but he did find a few odds and ends that had been missing for a few years. :rotfl:2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

Big Hugs:) Cutiepieabf,
can understand your frustration, i am also the main person who picks up after everyone, thats why i started this whole decluttering process, i am hoping that if i can get rid most of the clutter than i can spend less time on putting things back, however i have noticed that more of my clutter is going than anyone elses. Have made big progress recently with DH and DDs by explaining how stressful living surrouded all this mess and clutter has been and they have all been great at letting go of things.
So fingers crossed for you i know it hard to start and but it gets easier.
As for the forthcoming wedding congratulations and i am sure there is lots of advice on how to cut the cost of a wedding down. We got married 2 years ago and managed a cheapish but very different day, things we did to cut costs include; ask a guest to be photographer, do your own cake (you can buy dummy cakes so only the base cake needs to be real for cutting, just ice the dummies as you would a normal cake), look for community hall with a bar, ask a couple of friends to do a buffet . good luck and hope your week improves:)0 -
Horse76, just a thought, is there any way that your DH could change his day off? Or is he in a similar position workwise to you?
Cutiepie, I'm so sorry that you're having such a rubbish time at the moment. I hope it improves for you quite quickly.
I also had to explain to everyone how much I hated living in a house full of junk. I explained that I was always having to clean and everything took ages to do. There wasn't anything simple. Now, all the housework is done while they are out of the house as there's less junk around and I can just get on with it.
DH has decided against the dog. Only he told the kids first that I was thinking of geting one. Hmmmm. Not sure how I feel about that really. Huge hugs to you cutiepieabf. Why not start looking for another job anyway, nobody can be expected to carry on as normal if there is the possibility that the job will disappear. I've twice had to leave jobs when the funding for my salary dried up. The difference was the second time it was widely known there would be no funding which allowed me to look for (and get) something else.
Decluttering ... I have a bulk rubbish collection booked for Monday, ks bed base and mattress going plus a load of cardboard boxes - we no longer have half the things the boxes came in! I've also said there will be two extra black bags so that's an incentive to find stuff to go in them.
My bulk rubbish collection costs a little over £10 for six items. If there are household fixtures - eg a door, the price doubles. What do you pay in your area, or do you all trailer it down to the dump/recycling centre?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... We mostly take things to the tip. Luckily my partners car is quite big so most things go in, but if not then next door has a van and works opposite the tip, so we're lucky as he'll drop things off for us when necessary.
In addition, we've also got the rag and bone man (for want of a better name) who rides round with his horse and cart on the look out for metal. I reckon that's where the old tumble drier ended up since it disappeared from our driveway!!!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

He's going to submit a flexi working application nearer the time I return to work in June. He works for a large company and the process can take a couple of months, but he's not very hopeful as he's had a FW request refused before over a year ago. It's only one silly little day we need, it's so frustrating.
Are definately not going for the dog then? I've 2 jack russells and tbh the amount of hair they cast does my head in sometimes, I try to keep on top of the hoovering but there's always hairs around ~ still I wouldn't be without my boys. :rotfl:2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

Had a mini strop last night, threw a few things around, a few things have gone in the bin! (can't blame anyone else, it was mostly my stuff!!) ..some things still on the floor :rotfl:
