Trying to summon up the energy to do the understairs cupboard which is a constant problem. It has loads of storage so don't know why it never seems to stay tidy??!! Really tired today which doesn't help! xx

Dunno if anyone else has suggested this, as haven't made it to the end of the thread: do you have a designated place for everything that lives in the understairs cupboard and is that designated place labelled? Or does stuff not go back into its designated place?

Because that's my problem:D When new stuff arrives or current stuff gets taken out, it doesn't get filed with similar stuff or doesn't get put back:o

  • Hi all

Haven't posted on here for a while; but I'm back in the decluttering mood now and slowly but surely, we will get sorted.

    Jobs for this week include:

    Sorting visable paperwork
Tidy out saucepan/baking equipment stuff cupboard
DH will carry on sorting out the loft

I know it doesn't seem like alot, but I only have a few hours on a sat/sun and we do need to have some time to ourselves as we don't really get chance otherwise - so bite sized chunks for us each week.

Started taking some tips off flylady too - but not following the regime on a daily basis, just picking out things that I feel I should be doing from the whole list, while trying not to overload myself.

Trying to aspire to PEEP too......

So of my 18 items sold so far, 14 have gone. I'm away to post 2 more this afternoon and will get the mats packaged for collection tomorrow (maybe Monday so I can take the kiddies out tomorrow?). It seems very silly to me that I have to box stuff up and I can't wrap it. I'm selling some car mats and the couriers say stuff has to be bubble wrapped then boxed and if it can't be boxed, it's to be wrapped in cradboard. That's ridiculous. Such a waste of fuel adding unneccesarily to waste etc etc.
Pah! Almost finished the tub of paint that I bought on Sunday (Saturday?). The room's looking good too. Need to get orf my harris and do a bit more painting now though else it'll never get done.
@Cat04, ours wasn't meant to take 6 years to do! DH decided that he wasn't doing anything in 2009 which I felt very let down by as it meant we had to continue living in squalour in some rooms. We ought to have been finished at the end of 2009 but he's not prepared to come home in the evenings and do anything on it and I have my limitations. I'll do some stuff but it's very hard to judge. If I crack on and take down a wall, I have to work out how long it's going to be left as it is because I can't replace it.
It's like he moaned because I painted the downstairs loo the other night. I couldn't paint any more in the dining room, I had the paint, roller and tray full of paint and I was covered in paint. The walls needed doing so it seemed like the ideal time. What else was I going to do? Sit and watch the paint dry in the dining room so I could do another coat? As it happened, it didn't dry in the dining room that night and come the morning it didn't need another coat. The bathroom does though, it's patchy as anything but at least it's had a few coats. I may finish it off next week or later on today if DH decides to paint the coving tonight.

Anyway, must dash, DD has been tidying her room so I'd better see what she's trying to dispose of!
