  • After being very naughty and not doing much tidying, I re-bagged all the giant teddies and put them back in the loft to await the schools summer fayre or other suitable home, put some baby clothes up there and a little plastic dressing table of the DDs for any other babies I might have (working on DH!) or the DDs children! I'm planning ahead the eldest has only just turned 5.
So my bedroom is alot clearer now and ready for my new bed (well new-to-me).

    OUT~
    Cardboard box
    Bag of rubbish
    Coat hangers
    Handbag

    IN~
My birthday cards and pressies (really want to open them but have to wait!)
    Bag from Mom
Cheque for old mobile : D
    DH on friday

But very sad as think my hoover has died, and have lots of dustbunnys to declutter from under my bed and really don't fancy doing the wet cloth on the whole of the upstairs !

  • Good morning all

Spent 30 mins on sorting my work stuff yesterday. Managed clear scrap paper/notes out of one drawer.
Also decluttered my purse. Couldn`t believe how many receipts were in there.
All of this lead to 2 bags of shredded paper for recyling.

Still not feeling better (although I`m still working and have loads to do) so todays task is to empty/sort the carrier bag of stuff I took out of the car before it went for a service. That was 2 weeks ago and it`s still sitting in the corner of the kitchen.

Good luck with your efforts everyone.

My question is, has anyone used green metropolis and is it any good? i see you don't get much for your books as u have to pay postage etc but is it a quick turn around? As have them in a box for and make on average 90p per book i'm wondering if it's worth just taking them charity shop?

However when i think we have around 60 or more books to get rid of then it's £60ish which would be nice? Just worried it takes forever?

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks

Hi I have had books on GM but never sold any. I found the best way was the local market - I took a selection down at a time to the book stall and if they sell a lot of the author you have and not got a lot of stock for your book they will buy. Got 50p per book, but no packing costs and drop in everyone once in a while when passing. I just leave the bag in the car.

If however they are text/non-fiction I put them on Ebay - things like gardening and recipe books do well there - especially if recipe books are diet club based

:eek::eek::eek::eek:  My asda delivery has just arrived! I never realised just how small my fridge freezer is! I've only had the same one since I got married almost 10 years ago!;)

I think i need to declutter and get a larder fridge and larder freezer ... might just then have enough room for all this shopping I've bought. Thankfully there are 4 of us so it won't last too long in there but omg I never realised just how much I had bought online ... its deceiving ... can't wait till they build their store here ... at the mo its just not worth an hours drive there and back to stock up ... online is easier and a lot cheaper ... would spend more than the delivery charge in petrol and then theres the sweets for the kids etc lol. Thank goodness i decluttered the fridge and freezer this morning and got rid of all the out of date stuff that was well past its best!

    We just bought this

It's much better than our old one (that died and had been free from my sister)

Now in week 4 of my cold, it's getting really frustrating now!

Not a lot of decluttering happening atm but I did sell 14 fiction books through work for £10 at last today, they've been out the house for a little while now, under my desk at work, but was think I'd have to take them home soon and then someone emailed (they were advertised on small ads at work) and said she wanted them so they're gone - yay - and £10 in the selling stuff pot.

Got the next 2 Sundays at home alone and so I need to have a plan for these and be super productive with the last bit of decluttering we urgently need to do and then it's working on solutions to ensure we don't get into the mess again....

  • My new cleaner came today and is wonderful. She is a walking saint. She has thought up clever storage solutions for me, kitchen was like a new pin.

    I'm so pleased for you!

Well, day off today, and I have managed to declutter the bookcase in the hall.

So far,I've got the following to go to the charity shop:

    86. Four more dvds

    87. two coffee-table books

    88. five other books

    89. one 'Learn Spanish' book plus four cassettes

    90.one small photo album

    91. one electric (play against computer)portable backgammon game.Never liked it as it wouldn't let you do all the moves you wanted!

    To be binned/recycled:

    92. three photos

    93. one original broken Game Boy

    94. one mobile phone sock

    95.some paperwork

It has been quite enjoyable, especially looking through some Frans Lanting/Yann Arthus-Bertrand books with stunning photos and my Colemanballs books (very amusing).

I now just need to take it all to the cellar, prior to taking it to the CS.

I've not done too much this week, as I've been working every day, but I did manage to shred a small pile of paperwork, took a few old envelopes in to work, did a bit more sewing, used some of my oddments of wool to add some squares to my crocheted blanket, and yesterday I spent a couple of hours doing some de-cluttering of computer files, I got rid of over 1000 unnecessary files, and gained about 5gb of space!

ETA: Today I posted another ebay parcel, only a small one, but every little helps!
