The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I got my lovely new pandora bracelet last night. It seems that I might have made a f*** up with my decluttering and decluttered the charm that MiL got me for Christmas instead of a monstrous necklace which I was given too. Both were in blue jewellery boxes and I've found the horrid necklace but can't find the charm. I was getting a sweat on about it as I was on my way to work and DH said don't worry, we'll find it at the weekend. I really hope we do. I'll be gutted if I've got rid of it by accident. It was very pretty (and expensive) and in my efforts to have a nicer home I may have deprived myself of something lovely
Oh no, how devastating - I do hope it turns up. I'm sure you just need a good tidy up/sorting out/careful decluttering session to find it
I've been very slow on the de-cluttering, I've got much less stuff now to de-clutter from now and I've been in quite a bit of pain after a wisdom tooth was removed but I did post 3 pairs of shoes to an ebay buyer yesterday.0 -

2 pairs went to cs
10 pairs went into 5 stacking see thru boxes(little feet) - all neatly put to front of wardrobe
5 pairs of type of boots to the back of wardrobe
And now I can close the door:A

Hello
My question is, has anyone used green metropolis and is it any good? i see you don't get much for your books as u have to pay postage etc but is it a quick turn around? As have them in a box for and make on average 90p per book i'm wondering if it's worth just taking them charity shop?
However when i think we have around 60 or more books to get rid of then it's £60ish which would be nice? Just worried it takes forever?
Many thanks
Hi there, I lurk on here getting inspiration but thought I'd share my experience with Green Metropolis as nobody else has yet. You're entirely right about it taking ages to sell sometimes, but it's quick and easy to list them so you could pop them on there and give it a certain amount of time, even a couple of weeks and some of them may well sell and then charity shop the rest? Or if you search on the book you can see if there are loads on there already. There's a waiting list thing so if a book isn't available on there it emails the people who said they were interested when someone posts one. I only do small volumes so can't really give you more specifics. Some I just unlist and take to the charity shop when they've hung around too long.
The other site that I used was readitswapit which is great value as it's just the cost of postage but it's no good for decluttering as you get one back for every one you give out! http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/
Good luck with it whatever you decide.0 -
Hugs to Felineprincess and Debbiedeejay - hope you are both feeling better soon.
Well, I've been AWOL for about three weeks as I'm back at work full time and it's been quite hard readjusting. Haven't had much time for decluttering, so just doing little bits here and there! OH is supposed to be on looking after house duty, but he isn't really trying to keep it tidy and the constant mess is getting me down. I've been spending most weekends returning the house to looking ok and then it spends all week getting messy again! Going on strike soon!

Oh no! I really really hope its still in the house somewhere and that you find it very soon.mcculloch29 wrote: »Oh blast, Kaz, how horrible for you. Fingers crossed that DH is right. I'm sure we all have similar stories -it's on nowhere near the same scale, but my cleaner found some vouchers yesterday that I was convinced I'd binned accidentally. :j I'd rather not bring memories back of the precious things I HAVE binned.....
Did you say these were Tesco vouchers? if so, it doesnt really matter if you lose them because if you log onto the Tesco website - they're all recorded on there. It tells you which vouchers you've received, which ones you've spent and how much you've got left. The codes are there so you can use them for online shopping or arrange replacements to spend in store.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day ... lots of photos to take for stuff that needs to be listed on ebay. Thankfully starting the bids at 99p should hopefully get some interest. At the next free listing tho i have hubbys old mess dress (never worn) and my wedding dress to list ... don't want them selling for just 99p:rotfl:
Have to say it was a good day but I must admit to being slightly lazy with it being my first proper day off in a while ... DD2 went swimming today with DH so tomorrow is DD1's turn with DH and my dad, to show off how well she can swim after almost a year's lessons with school ... keep finding loads of books so going to list them all ... no point in keeping them lying round the house gathering more dust lol.

Thanks for your wishful hopings and commiserations y'all! God, I really hope it hasn't gone out.
I get really cross because it only seems to be me who ever gets rid of anything so I'm having mammoth decluttering sessions when I am able to get the time and then things like this happen.
DH thinks that it is in a bag of gifts I got given at Christmas but I can't find that bag and I think it's because I had already emptied it and cleared out what I wasn't keeping and what I was keeping.
I will be so mad with myself if we don't find it because they are so very expensive. And it was so me, pink and glittery.
Of my listings on ebay, at last look, 4 items will sell. I hope they do all go even if it's only for pennies, it's stuff that I would prefer to get rid of so that I can have some space.
Need to put a bid in on a bureau for DS which is finishing this weekend. I really hope he gets it because I need to get his wardrobe sorted. Annoyingly there was a very cool one on there with 3 drawers which finished yesterday. I unticked it because it was >£30 and 20 miles away. It only went for about £38 in the end and I'd have paid £50! Grr, that's the way with ebay though I suppose.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
