Copy of Will (And details of solicitors)
Bank account information
Insurance details
Funeral policies
Pension details
Cemetary Plot information (If you have one)
Another relative also had a box like this, but it also contained a brief personal letter, with details of their wishes for their funeral (Cremation, what music they wanted, no flowers etc.)
As this person died quite suddenly, it made the process much easier for the children to deal with what needed to be done.
Molly - Thanks for the suggestions. I particularly like the idea of the personal letter. When my mum died she had all her paperwork etc in order but she would never discuss her funeral & as I was an only child it did make it difficult to try to give her what she would have liked. It was a good friend of hers that told me that my mum always thought flowers were wasted at a funeral 'cos the person they were for would never see them (she was a keen gardener)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
The decluttering has slowed down, but today managed:
83 fifteen more dvds for the CS
84 another tin,3 jars and some dried goods to the cellar
85 one map recycled0 -
Where has this thread been all my MSE life????
Can I please join in? I've only just found this thread and I am in need of a major declutter. My boyfriend and I have just moved into my mum's house and she has moved in with her fiancee so we have everything in this house. My stuff, and I'm horrendous hoarder, My boyfriend's stuff, including holey t-shirts he was wearing at school 7 years ago! and all the stuff my mum hasn't taken with her!
When it was Mum's house I wasn't that bothered but now it's mine and it's my first house I just want to get rid of everything and start again
It would be nice to have a thread to keep me motivated and on track :beer:Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -

Tonight I have decluttered DD's homework and spent some Mum time with her. Much needed as she isn't putting the effort into work at the moment. She still needs the guidance. I'm happy with what she's done now and at least she's finished it a day early so she can just take her USB key into school tomorrow to check that it is usable at school. If it's not, she has the evening tomorrow to make sure she has a usable project to present.
She's 9 and I'm very impressed that they are studying "money week" this week. School wide. Maybe someone has been listening to Martin after all?
2 of my 31 items will sell. I have ordered a new laptop lead for £7.50 from ebay after the computer shop **World wanted £59+ for a new lead. Been without internet for days and there are so many new posts I don't have time to read them all! Looks like everyone it doing well though
As I've had no internet I missed out on listing ebay items yesterday
Today I've decluttered a carrier bag of books which failed to sell on ebay to the charity shop and 2 ebay parcels sent.
I've got another ebay parcel to go tomorrow and a tv stand to go to oh's brother.
Still slow progress but getting there0
