Wow 2Manybooks, that's a lots of books alright! But you are an avid reader fromthe sounds of it. My OH and I have collected a fair few over the years but I try really hard to borrow them from the Library first and then if I really really want the book then it gets bought. I haven't bought any yet though for over a year.
Today - another game off to CS.
Sorted and chucked lots of paper work. Found some from 2000 definitley not needed any more!0 -
Some hangers, a couple of DS1's tops and a dress of mine all added to the charity shop bag - which is being collected tomorrow, yay!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

As part of my decluttering I want to keep the really important papers (birth certs, deeds etc) in a flight case (that DH cleared out of the garage) so I know exactly where they are and in case I/we pop our clogs together unexpectedly my sons (or DH) know where everything they would need is kept (my mum did something similar bless her) I'd like to know if anyone has any thoughts on items that should go in the case.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Would you leave the case unlocked or have a safe place for the key?

My parents have something similar - its a lockable metal fireproof box that contains:
Copy of Will (And details of solicitors)
Bank account information
Insurance details
Funeral policies
Pension details
Cemetary Plot information (If you have one)
Another relative also had a box like this, but it also contained a brief personal letter, with details of their wishes for their funeral (Cremation, what music they wanted, no flowers etc.)
As this person died quite suddenly, it made the process much easier for the children to deal with what needed to be done.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

So yesterday I:
sold 4 things on ebay - 2 posted out today, 2 packaged up waiting for payment.
listed 6 more things on ebay and relisted 1 that was unsold
Almost sorted the Guide accounts out and did our accounts too and a few other admin things - nothing really to add to decluttering though.
So don't feel I achieved a lot decluttering house but house is starting to look a lot better and the biggest challenge for us is keeping it like this and not bringing much new stuff into the house.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I know I don't post often to this thread, but I am periodically decluttering still. Today, a major development; I've cleaned out my baking cupboard, and got rid of:
Several old jars,
Some frayed paper cake cases (not too unhappy as I tend to use my silicone ones now)
However, I've still got 3 blocks of black fondant which I bought with the intention of making myself an "alien" cake for my birthday last year. No idea if I'm going to use it or not - will have to see. The good news is I have probably got enough space for a Remoska!

I was thinking recently as to how my late mother used to cook a good meal including pudding every evening for 5 of us and keep an immaculate house we always had freshly laundered clothes which were ironed. In the school holidays I noticed how she always sat in the garden in the afternoon or if the weather was bad she knitted in t he sitting room. We had no freezer and we walked to the local shops everyday for food for lunch and dinner. I have realised it was because although there were ornaments and fresh flowers there was no clutter and no daytime tv . She just quietly got on with washing cleaning and baking and built in what we now call "me" time."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
