  • Wow Mineallmine, I thought I was doing quite well with decluttering but you are putting me to shame! Going to declutter some paperwork later and got a few things pending out tomorrow, will also try and list some things on ebay later and see if I can get oh to agree to putting some junk of freecycle :)
  • Made a start in the kitchen as it kills 2 birds with one stone by doing an inventory of the cupboards. 2 cupboards done and 3 to go.

I got rid of 4 bags of rubbish and 1 bag for recycling. 2 items identified for ebay nothing for charity. An extra bonus is that nothing has come in today.

I couldn't motivate myself until 4.30 pm so all in all not bad for such a short space of time. Tomorrow I'll be aiming to do the other cupboards, fridge and freezer and the table (big 6ft x 4ft table with barely any space on it).

Actually just had a bit of a power surge in the kitchen and decluttered the cupboard under the hob. I have on the side ready to go into the bin (these are not good enough to charity shop, sadly) some old cake tins, loaf tins now replaced by silicone ones which take much less space to store and a ring cake mould which I have used once but cannot see myself using again. So, I feel really happy that that particular chore is out of the way. Normally I can't bear throwing cooking stuff away :s

    Anyway, onwards and upwards!

    Happy New Year

Decided to sort out my wardrobe today. Organised it so that all trousers together, shirts, tshirts, jumpers etc. It will be much easier getting work stuff out now. Whilst I was at it sorted out my shoes, underwear drawer and toiletries. Result everything much tidier, bag for charity shop, bag of rubbish and some recycling.

    Actually had fun doing this.

I haven't got much done the last few days due to being in lazy piglet mode! Weighed myself and have put on 4lbs during December, so need to get into busy bee mode instead! Busy-ness commences tomorrow, as does immense amounts of exercise and a lot of salad!

Had visitors over for a buffet today, so I did a mad dash round to collect up junk lying around downstairs and put it all in the spare room! Need to get out of the mindset of using this room as a dumping ground...

There are a few mini projects I would like to do in January alongside general decluttering:

A tidy up and stocktake of the pantry.
Decide what is going to 'live' on the shelves in the living room as there is some free space.
Condense the xmas decorations down and give some away when I take tree down.

    In

A skirt and a bag from Ebay

    Pending In

Stuff bought in sales, awaiting delivery :o

Have spent my Christmas money and Paypal balance now, so can't buy anything else until I've sold more stuff or earned vouchers through doing surveys!

    Out

Took a bag of clothes/books to charity shop yesterday and returned shoes for a refund.

Bag of left over highly calorific food given to visitors to take home.
I got up to 273 things decluttered out of target of 500 for this week and gave up out of exhaustion! But in 2010 I got rid of around 1,700 things. And a thing could be a magazine or a piece of furniture! :).

Congratulations on your huge decluttering total for 2010, mineallmine! :T You've done fantastically and are an inspiration. :D

    Here's to 2011 - Year of the Fab Clutter-Free House! :)

    Count me in for 2011

    Aims for before Easter -
    1. Clear garage
    2. Tidy up study and paper work
    3. Ebay couple of bags of kids clothes that i cleared out in Nov.
    4. List books to sell on Amazon or give away.
Hoping to get this done by the time the better weather is due as the garden is needing a good declutter and the shed needs a clear out so they will be included in the next quarters jobs.
  • right de cluttered wall unit of paperwork its nice and tidy now :)
have decided im going to get rid off all uncorn and pedgest orniments on ebay first then charity shop, this way will get an easyer frountroom to keep clean :)
  • Have decluttered a small amount today. Put some books on amazon and have already sold three :j. Sofa bed in spare room is being relocated to inlaws tomorrow, but double bed being put in its place given to us from my brother plenty of room underneath to store C*ap.:D Looking at cutlery drawer in kitchen today, even that needs a good sort out, where will it end .

    Hello all :)

Would like to join you in decluttering, as last year was pants! Even teenage DS is so fed up with it that he started on the kitchen today!
Basically I reckon we need to throw/sell/give away at least half of what's in the house, & that doesn't include sorting out the things we were all given for Christmas, so it's a huge job. When my gran died years ago, it took family over a month of full time work to clear her things, & I don't want to be like that, & it's our 25th wedding anniversary this year, so I'd like the house to be a nice, tidy HOME instead of a dumping ground. Looking forward to motivation from this thread, & will start reading properly tomorrow. Thanks in advance! :)
