Happy New Year everyone!
DH sorted out his wardrobe yesterday *faints* and added two suits and 3 shirts to the charity pile. I've noticed that he has re-utilised the bookshelf from the spare room in the garage, which looks very tidy now.
I am about to declutter my DH, DS1 and DS2 to the football :rotfl: and will sort out my make up drawer next.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

I don't think I will be decluttering anything today as I feel a bit delicate but I will be starting afresh tomorrow!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Well, I've got the whole of my wool stash scattered around me and I'm determined to lose about a third of it. I'm putting it into clear binbags so that I can sort it out.. Must go now - otherwise nothing else will happen!Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Hello
Can I join in please?
The only thing is I need to take baby steps as my house is overloaded with 'stuff'. This mainly came about when my DH and me got together, it was like 2 lives and possessions packed into 1 house and it still hasn't been sorted 6 years on.
I sometimes think that the bin bags full of paperwork and clothes should just go straight into the bin because if I haven't looked at them for over 6 years then I obviously don't need them.
Then there's the general everyday clutter/carp which builds up and up. I don't even know where it all comes from tbh.
I have decided instead of trying to clean the house bit by bit as a whole I will be better off just focusing on one room at a time for a month at a time until every last bit of rubbish/clutter has gone out of it.
I have made a start on my kitchen since this is the first area I want to focus on. Today I have concentrated on half of the floor area which was piled with boxes and bottles and take-away wrappers from last night. This is where the bin is so I swept all around it / under it and that area is now tidy and I can actually get into my oven. I also plan to clear the side where the microwave is as it's become a dumping ground for items which don't even belong in the kitchen (tools manly). These are my aims for today.
I work full time and have 2 boys aged 5(today :j) and 6 and they wear me out. The only time I can realistically do any de-cluttering is at the weekends so on Saturdays and Sundays I will give myself tasks.
So tomorrow I will tidy the rest of the floor area and wash the floor in the kitchen, and tidy another work top.
On Monday I will tidy the sink area and tidy the remaining worktop.
Hopefully before I return to work on Tuesday the kitchen will 'look' tidy. The cupboards will be looked into and sorted out properly over the next weekends in January.
Sparkly clean kitchen - where are you? :rotfl:Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Afternoon everyone. I spent a little while today decluttering the fridge and have transformed some odd ends of bread into breadcrumbs in the freezer out of the way, and got rid of some yoghurts which had sadly passed their use by dates. The final couple of bags of Christmas presents have gone now too, so both the kitchen and front room are looking a lot clearer.
Next step will be to tackle the pots and pans cupboard. Tomorrow, I think.

Well, that was a a productive (if embarrassing!) afternoon. I was aiming to destash 11lbs of yarn, but by the time I had gone through everything, I found that I had disowned 45lbs of wool(!!) I am donating it to charity directly or to other charity knitters.

Evening all,
I got up to 273 things decluttered out of target of 500 for this week and gave up out of exhaustion! But in 2010 I got rid of around 1,700 things. And a thing could be a magazine or a piece of furniture!
I've updated my sig to focus on the key areas that need to be sorted. All mini projects in a way. And the bedroom windowsills drive me crazy - why can't I just keep them clear (grrrrr). There are other projects, such as the garage and the loft but I'm focusing on areas in the line of sight.
Decluttered this evening:
- some old costume jewellery to a charity shop bag.
- some old jewellery cases (bought a jewellery box to have everything in one place).
Happy decluttering everyone and if you don't know where to start just focus on one small area - the fridge, a drawer, anything. You will feel better. PromiseDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
