100 THINGS IN 10 DAYS -
48 - old diary - burnt
......
I wish I had the courage to do this....have got years worth of diaries.....:cool:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
I'm back in for this year. Actually, I haven't stopped but just hadn't had a chance to catch up with the old thread. I didn't even notice there was a new one (oops!). Anyway, I found you all on Wednesday and have spent since then catching up and reading.
Targets for this year: Get hall stairs and landing stripped, replastered and decorated. New carpet in loft awaiting a hallway fit to be laid in!
Empty out my sideboard and get it sorted. Christmas morning saw me hoiking out a drawer and decluttering it because I couldn't find 2 batteries.
So far this year I have taken 5 car loads to the tip. Not all was dumped but I take the clothes down there too as there is a clothes bin at ours and I never remember to take them to the supermarkets.
I have a little pile of bits to go in the loft but I don't really want to put too much up there because we need to board it out this year.
I STILL need to get the kitchen under control and am working towards this by trying to eat everything in my cupboards. Then I would like to not keep buying so much food. The cupboard under the stairs was tackled last week and is tidy enough to now house our large recycling boxes. It still needs trimming further though.
I keep checking ebay for a dresser and for a bureau for DS's bedroom. I *think* I may have spotted the dresser for me but know that DH will moan about it. I've got to the stage now where I don't care, I like it and it's for *my* little space in the dining room. The rest of it is full up with guitars and an electric piano (best not to ask).
I've got a day off tomorrow so I will try to get some more decluttered.
Today DD has decluttered a back of carp from her bedroom. I've decluttered the lounge and dining room of more toot. I've done some washing (3 loads) and now have an overflowing ironing basket to clear tomorrow or Wednesday.

It's only the other side of the garden fence but the rubbish collection guys won't move it from our garden. It's more than their job is worth, you know....

Dropped off 2 bags to a different charity shop. Didnt find any bargains, clutter, I mean bargains... Went to other charity shops where I normally donate stuff and came away with a wicker basket (which holds my library books all together) and some casual wear clothes (one with a label still on) for night-time wear. Karma :A All stuff I needed
So I'm also convinced this clutter clearing makes room for good stuff to come along
To do - one-in-one-out:
Find 2 items of clothing to go for the "new" 2 bits from the charity shop
Find 1 item of something to go in exchange for the new wicker basket
Keep up the brill work everyone. So encouraging to read about people finding stuff they had lost, now using rooms with space and everything (!), dealing with emotional clutter (amen to that) and generally reclaiming their homes. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Ok Today we helped someone else declutter which means we have acquired some books & other items, some of which we wanted anyway and now don't have to pay for, some of it very personal & unusual things given to us.
My feeling is is that it's an encouragement to continue decluttering what we don't need to make proper room for these things, even if we don't keep everything long term.
While hanging some things in the wardrobe I noticed a bag in the back I'd forgotten about, and there may be something inside I can get rid of when I have the energy. (maybe the bag too - it's my old PE bag from school with my name emblazoned across the front - no, it does not contain my old PE kit :rotfl:)

Hello all, I've been pretty quiet but have been busy. Have made £100 on ebay, put about seven bags of unwanted stuff into the charity shop (I can't even remember what was in there so can't have needed it!), took six pairs of old specs to the opticians for charity and got a zip repaired on a pair of trousers ... so although they are still there, they do get worn now instead of just lying dormant in the wardrobe!
I now need to tackle the ridiculous amount of outdated paperwork about the place, I'm going to borrow the electric shredder from work one night I think. While I'm at it I think I'll cancel my paper bank statements - I never even read them so can't imagine I'll ever want to, not with online banking. Is there anything I'm missing that I might need paper statements for?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Right, I'm writing it on here so I actually do it.
Today I'm going to finish the load of washing that's in the machine now and I will sort and put away the mountain. That will be 4 loads gone in 1 go.
I also need to find some paint. I thought I'd left it downstairs but must have put it in the loft for christmas/ ds's birthday. I have the rollers there ready to do the downstairs loo so want to get on with it now.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

If you need to prove your address/ID for anything you will need a recent bill or bank statement - bizarrely they won't take print outs of online bank statements but will sometimes ask you to fax them a copy of one you got in the post - very odd. So I'd get them for one account at least - even if it's just one little savings acccount that only produces one page a month. With online making things cheaper with things like electricity if the bank will send me them for free I'm keeping them for now.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Some very questionable cds of DHs ( Fame academy anyone?)
And ~DD1s Spongebob's greatest hits cd, which I think DH hid there to avoid listening to it,
Few bits of paper thrown out, but can't risk dumping the cds need to check with DH first *rolls eyes*
might pluck up the courage to do the airing cupboard later eek! Its a throw stuff in a shut the door quick job at the mo!
Now decluttering some cake and coffee, while DD2 naps. : )0
