If the weather holds I will have a look in our allotment and see what is still growing after the sub zero temperatures we had last month. Tomorrow I will do a freezer and store cupboard inventory and come up with a plan.
Well done Mrs Mc!!
poohbear59 - I was up on ours last week and managed to dig up some Leeks, everything was still covered in Snow but we've now been clear of it since last Friday so I plan to go up there on Wednesday to see what else I can rescue - I know I've got some swede, celeriac and baby turnips some where.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

I forgot we have leeks in the allotment, they should be okay, if a little small.

Hi all, just had my first real spend of £5.04 at Lidl/MrS on 3 tubs cottage cheese, oats, mint sauce, reduced salami, yogurts and a reduced quiche. I got a big pot of natural yogurt for 30p because it was missing the lid
(I got some lactase drops for xmas hahaa wooo!)
I've decided not to risk eating the meat and thrown it away, the fish i'm keeping as it was bought fresh and put in the freezer and is still in date, I'll just have to eat that over the next few days and keep my eye out for meaty whoopsies.
Me and OH went to do some sale shopping but I couldn't find anything I could justify buying! Well, I bought a few pretty decorations that were 75% off but I just don't know how to spend anymore even when I do have money!!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

My DH did our first shop of the new year. It was not a full shop as we want to use up some of the freezer contents, but he spent £26 and we should have enough for the week. It included some batteries, which i won't take off just yet but might if things look tight.
The gammon joint someone else mentioned at £6 for 2.6kilos was only £4.50 today. It wasn't on the list so he rang me to ask if he should get one, so i guess i will cook that tomorrow and mainly be eating that as i have a pretty full freezer.0 -
My first shop today and spent £25.71. Stocked up on mince from Lidl's which is half price at the moment and bread flour which is also half price. Also got bagels/pittas/wraps which will be used for packed lunches - I think I've enough of these for at least 2 weeks (more if I take soup and hm bread).0

Evening all
MrsM - well done on that fantastic weight loss
Toddles - congratulations on your baby news
We went shopping today and managed to spend £104 - bought enough DW tabs from Lidl to last us till the end of the year, Toilet Roll till about May, Rice till about April and stocked up on other bits, so for the rest of the month we should just be doing top up buys. We have plenty of bread and pack up stuff just need to sort out the freezers so they are utilised better.
Who didn't have a freezer - look for one on Freecycle - join up to it - we have 2 small ones in our garage that came from there and we couldn't do without them
New people - Welcome and hello, don't forget to check out the wonderful recipes on Page 1 that Rosieben hunts down and posts for us - there are fantastic money saving recipes on there and loads of them - almost everything you can think of and they are always updated with new ones
See you all tomorrow

Hi All,
Well I've just made my first spend of the month, just £3.38 on toilet roll, marg, diet coke (own brand, of course!), and a mini choc treat for DS. Oh, and 75p for a sample of soapnuts after reading about them on another thread... I must remember to add a signature for this or I'll lose track of things.
I'm now off to defrost my freezer so I can finally see how much food I have - my freezer currently contains around 20% ice!!!0
