  • I've spent nothing since 28th December so I've had 5 no spending days. Struggled out tonight to pop out my Avon books and collect some money. So no spending-only collecting. I may go out tomorrow to top up on bread and milk and make another docs appointment if poss-I need a bit more time off to recover! Not getting paid for it so no guilt attached!
Eating up fridge contents today-going to try to return to a bit more online shopping with the added fuel charges. Either I will use a free delivery code or make a big order again to earn the free delivery. Going to look for the rest of my December receipts now so I can kiss goodbye to 2010 totally!

Hello everyone - We've been missing for a few months but would like to get back on track with a budget of £380 for January please. (We are a family of 2 adults, DS17 and DD14 plus a fat cat and this includes all food, toiletries, cat food, packed lunches every day, cleaning products etc...)

We really want to pay off more of the mortgage this year and help DS17 buy a car/pay for his insurance so by keeping a close watch on the grocery spends we should have some spare cash each month. Also, I'm continuing to take out £50 cash per week from the cashpoint which has to last us for sundry spends. This sounds like a lot and I wonder where it goes each week? - Money for tea bar fund at work, a hot drink for the teenagers at school, the odd lottery ticket, newspaper..? Actually I think I need to look at this closely too!

    Good luck everyone.

I've spent 11.24 out of the budget but that includes a load of reduced stuff, goats milk and some bottles of fizzy water for a change... Still got £138.76 til the end of the month.

I always do the float test to check my eggs, put them in a jug of cold water, fresh ones will sink, if they float don't use them ;)

mandco - fritters with your eggs? We had hazelnut, squash and stilton ones yesterday, and I have a nice WW recipe for sweetcorn ones.
poohbear - horse carrots are fine, just tend to be the big and/or wonky ones. There is a whole thread on it somewhere? A low water recipe is to grate them, then bake them in a covered dish with a spoon full of water, a little sugar and a knob of butter. Makes the blandest carrots really quite tasty.
mrsm - congrats on the wieght loss
    toddles - congratulations

A spend of c£6 today in the co-op - fruit, veg and fruit juice.
