I Quit Smoking March 2010 :T0 -
I've not officially taken part in this for a while, but new year and all!
Having just left Mum's house with a pile of leftover roast pork, stew & homemade soup amongst other things, my freezers are well stocked. So I'm aiming for a very frugal £50 this month.
Can't include petrol as that would get me started on a rant!!
Happy New Year to everyone and looking forward to reading all your posts

Grocery Challenge
Feb 2016 - £46.73 / £100.000 -
Hi All,
I forgot to say congratulations to you too toddles!
Well I converted the majority of my collected points into an evoucher for £50 and did a large storecupboard/household shop online at MrS. It's due to arrive lunchtime tomorrow and so I'll update the sig with the amount then but it should be around £25 of money spent. We should have enough flour in to make bread for at least three months!
Today is the first NSD of the year (Jan is 1st to 31st for us) so quite pleased at that.
How sad am I that I'm excited about my shiny new spreadsheets? :undecided:laugh: I have been far more organised in their construction this time as it was much more drawing them up, sucking and see last yearso hoping that the lessons learned there will make these slightly more useable. With the mortgage sheet I kept forgetting how I got to figures so this year it's all prepared with the formulae and a key.
Hello again to all the newbies and the returners who I may or may not have met before. :hello:
Ok, off to browse the boards some more.
Take care all,
SpigsMortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
Hi everyone and happy new year!!
I have been lurking for a while now and would love to join the challenge. I spend way too much on food and our cupbards are always over flowing with food - could you please put me down for £160 for the month. This is for two adults (but the other half is a bit of a snack monster!!) It's going to be a challenge as I am also following weight watchers so its not always easy to take advantage of the whoopsie/reduced items at the supermarkets if they aren't ww friendly!!
Good luck everyone and congrats on the fab weightlosses discussed on here - very inspiring!!go to the graze website and enter this code: 4LKM1R3B to get your first graze box free and the second half price!!0 -
Hi there
Can i join in please? Have been a lurker for some time on this thread but would like to give it a go. Could you please put me down for 180.00 for January. This is for 2 adults, one teenager and a cat. I have a fairly well stocked freezer and store cupboard at the minute so hoping this is achievable. I have made a pot of lentil soup today of which most has been put into freezer for work lunches next week.
We are having gammon for tea tomorrow night and any leftover will be made into pea and ham soup (which i love:)) for lunches the following week.
The only money i have spent today is 2.00 for cheese from Iceland. Will give Lidl a look in tomorrow (thanks for the tip) for the mince as we use loads for spag bol, lasagne, hm burgers etc.
Congratulations Mrs M on the weightloss - I lost almost 2 stone with SW last year (reached my target in March) but have put on a stone of that as stopped going to classes:( I would love to lose most of that by Easter as we are going on holiday:j
Off to look up some recipes now for my meal planner:APayment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Hope you are all well, I have had a flu type bug over the last few days and and not been out of bed for at least 4 and still feel yuk
Anyhow I have decided to get more organised this year (maybe start next week when I feel better). Got myself a large diary to help meal plan, make lots of notes/lists to myself etc to see if this helps me. OH is on board so we will see how it goes!!!
Could you please put me down for £300 Mrs M
ThanksI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Hiya all
Well have already spent a third of my budget, but won't need to shop for another week (veg, bread and milk), have stocked up on whoopsie mince, kievs, meatballs, chicken breasts etc etc, got loads, loads loads.
Make celary soup for tea, and have got my slow cooker full of savoury mince to be packed up in foil containers and froze.
Love being back on the wagon.

Hi All
A lovely NSD today. Had the rest of the gorgonzola with some leftover mushrooms and a pack of bacon from the freezer with pasta for lunch. Dinner was a few pieces of the Chinese platter from xmas left in the freezer with a little bit of rice and sweet chilli sauce.
Tomorrow I'll use the remains of carrots and parsnips from Xmas (there was too much for the stew on Saturday!), with potatoes, lentils and curry paste to make a veggie curry. Then back to work on Tuesday where I'll be having quite a few cheese sandwiches I think! I can't wait to get back to normality and get rid of this glut of food. On the upside at least I'm not spending much money! :j
Spiggle: I'll be watching with interest how your changing supermarket experiment goes. I'm a total Mr S/Mr T addict, and try as I will I've never been able to wean myself off them. I did watch that programme, but thought it would affect my wallet too much to change.
MrsM: Well done on the weight loss! :T
Toddles: Congrats! Very nice news :-)
Hippiechiq: You've been gone a while. I hope it's because you're caught up enjoying the Xmas festivities and that nothing is wrong...
