Would you be happy to buy an expensive brand new laptop only to receive an opened box?
I wouldnt.
Getting a new laptop sprang to mind but I see your point of making the item no longer brand new. Mind you there's nothing to stop them saying they opened the box out back to make sure everything was in it ...... not that I'm saying any company would do that0 -
Because surprisingly enough the only place that could even match the price online was PixMania! Sarcasm gets you nowhere but nice try :rotfl:
Doubtful. If you can get that price in PC World then you can get the same price on another 100 websites.
What's the make and model?
And there was no sarcasm in my post. I was stating the bleeding obviousHope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Tell a lie, there are some places that do it a bit cheaper but I've never heard of them hence why I said PixMania were the cheapest. I should also point out my research was limited to Google Shopping results whilst in-store hence for the sake of it being a few quid dearer than some unknown sites I was happy to buy there. Also, a lot of the sites I checked don't ship to Northern Ireland or if they do they charge a nice premium.
The laptop in question was: HP G56-130SA0 -

They would need to find the two batteries from the warehouse and then disconnect the laptops from the security systems and then place them next to each other so you could compare them both.
Also, the sale wouldn't have been worth £400. The profit on laptops is fairly small, compared to other stuff. The actual profit would have been far, far less.0 -
Can't believe the store would have been virtually empty when the staff are all serving customers. All the major electrical stores I've been in to over the last couple of days have been packed!!! A lot worse than before Christmas. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

And why not? I'm asking for a simple explanation as to why any salesperson, commission based or not, should treat customers with such contempt. Had my husband done the talking maybe they would have had a sale but I'm sure they couldn't care less about losing a few hundred quid.
As for the attitude, that was aimed squarely on the manager with whom I knew I wouldn't be dealing as he made it quite clear the previous day that he "didn't do customers". If I'd known that the salesman could read minds so he knew I was being generous with my 2nd chance attitude I would have asked him for the lottery numbers while I was there.
Salespeople are not your personal servants and you are not doing them a huge favour by gracing their store. If that is how you approach them, well done to them for behaving the way they did.0 -
Put the battery in the laptop and weigh it.
Bring that laptop over here and place it next to this one.
No wonder the salespeople were rude. They should get compensation for putting up with customers like that.0 -
I phoned to check stock of an item which was oos online at Currys on Monday. I was told the system was showing 3 but she couldn't see any so refused to look further. Thinking that 3 was quite alot to lose, I phoned again the next day, again I was told there were 3 but the member of staff concerned said they would look for them and phone me back. 5 minutes later the phone went and the items had been found. So a very different experience on 2 separate occasions.
The item was reserved and when I went to collect, 4 members of staff stood looking at each other, willing each other to deal with the customers who were waiting for service. In the end another customer said 'sorry to interupt your chat, but do you work here?'!! Not good, but the camera case was a bargain!! I certainly wouldn't have bothered for a larger, more important item.0 -

Why so? If I go into a car showroom and ask to sit in a car or get a test drive they have no problem. If I go to look at wedding cakes I get to sample what I'm looking at. Heck I was able to try on so many wedding dresses yet I was only able to buy one yet no hassle was too much. Why should walking into a PC World store be any different? I didn't ask to inspect the RAM or look at the motherboard, all I wanted to do was compare 2 laptops which would more than likely have resulted in my husband buying the dearer one.
When buying a laptop you want to know how heavy it is and simply showing me the screen where it says 2.55kg means nothing to me. Considering the screen is what you look at on a laptop I can't see why I can't compare 2 of them side-by-side. Maybe you work for PC World with the attitude you have as that is exactly what I got in store.
And @lip_stick - yes, at 4:30pm the store was virtually empty when I was in. The same time the previous day I admit was very busy and I couldn't find a salesperson to talk to but on the day this all happened the staff almost outnumbered the customers and most of the staff were standing about propping up the display stands.
@redcard - have you found me a cheaper option than PC World not that I was asking but you were offering?0
