  • Agree I always try and make sure the kids still have reasonable standard of life with the odd treat. They are only young once.

  • Sh*t DS to go in for his exploratory next Friday. On one hand I am delighted that it is so quick but there is a wee niggle in my mind that he is being seen awfy quickly . The problem he had in his ear is a thing called a cholesteatoma(sp). It is a non-malignant tumour that grows inside the ear. The problem is that if it is left to grow it can penetrate the brain and cause meningitis. Quite often whilst it is being removed the hearing can be lost permanently too. DS was very very lucky when his was removed and his hearing was saved despite there being quite a large tumour there but this is a wee exploratory to check whether this has regrown or not as his ear is full of wax (yuk) and they cant see without going in it. I have already promised him a new X-Box game as a reward, not very MSE but to h*ll with it, so long as he goes in and gets it done. I have had to sit him down and explain ( without terrifying him) that this op is essentail. He now understands and also understands that he will always have issues with this ear and he is just going to have to deal with it. Such a shame though and I am scared never mind him .

I really feel as if my life is one drama after another at the minute and I'm trying really hard to be positive but the smile is slipping more and more. Once I get Friday over then I'll be fine.

Oh and BTW DS has decided he is not gay after all . I have offered him again on facebook for adoption but no takers so far. I will keep a very open mind on this announcement and wait and see what developes. TBH he has grown about 8" since the start of the summer and loads of other changes, not including the mood swings ( and they talk about us women ) so I reckon his hormones are all over the place and he has no idea what he likes or doesn't. He has obviously been on a mission to drive me crazy this year though :rotfl:.

Spends were more under control today and tomorrow I will rein them in completely. I am going to Glasgoe to meet an old colleague for lunch so I am going to do some shopping for Christmas whilst I am up. I will need to use my card but I will pay it off from my wages at the end of the month so I am happy to do this. I rarely go into town so it makes sense to do this rather than make another round trip another day. So a busy weekend ahead of me but after lurking on Hypno's thread I came home tonight and chose to clean most of my house and be chilled over the weekend as I am pretty much up to date rather than sit on my butt and stress all weekend about when the house would get cleaned. Thanks Hypno for reminding me how easy it is to choose how you want things to pan out :D. Amyways. Bed time for me as I am working in the morning.

  • oh well busy day today. Went to do cleaning job this morning which I do with DD and had to do most of it alone as she is wiped out after her flu. Took an hour longer than usual. Took my wee mum her shopping this afternoon . Made her dinner and got in at 7pm. Poor DS has been on his own all day so is now talking, talking, talking :rotfl:.

Spent a few pounds buying 'nice things' to tempt DD to eat as she has lost nearly a stone in a week . She's a wee skinny again and is well happy :D.

As I said yesterday I am heading to Glasgow tomorrow for lunch and I am going to get some Christmas shopping done whilst there. I am so looking forward to a bit of retail therapy. I am just about to write a list of what I need. I will be frugal though and will be scouring for bargains.

  • :D what a lovely day I have had. My friend I met for lunch is very different from my usual type of friend and she is just lovely. We had a fabulous chilled day with loads of chat. Went to the Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow and it was great. Food was delish and atmosphere fabby. Then went shopping and I managed to get lots of things for Christmas. Spent over £300 . All on my card but I am not going to add them onto my debt as I fully intend paying it off before Christmas. If I dont then I will add them on but I am confident that I will. I am not even going to try and overpay my other debts ( except getting rid of tesco) until Christmas is organised. I want us to have a really nice time but I do not want to do my usual and increase my debt any.
Whilst we were out my friend introduced me to the sexiest man I have ever met. He actually made me weak at the knees :o. He was very manly and French. Zat accent, nom nom. I would run a mile right enough if he looked in my direction but omg Lush, lush, lush.

So my goals for this year were to get rid of Argos ( gone :D ) Sony ( transferred to 0% with my mum and reduced by £700 :D ) and Tesco which has only £200 to go :D. I was reading a post where i said that all my new year posts were the same but with it being 1.1.11 this year I hoped that it menat a change in fortune and that next year I would be shouting from the rooftops at what i had paid off and about how much weight I had lost. Fingers crossed I keep up the momentum over the next couple of months and I am shouting at the top of my voice :D of my successes this year.

Well done on what you have achieved this year, sometimes it feels that it will take forever to be debt free. This year i decided to concentrate on clearing only one debt, one of the things i have done to help is get a savings tin that you cannot open unless you use a can opener, i decided not to open it till the 31st dec and then hopefully have enough to finish paying off my m&s card. I'm getting excited the tin is really heavy and not much room is left. I finally won £10 on the lottery last night and that has gone straight into the tin so i cannot spend it. Already deciding what to concentrate on next year overdraft or cc. Overdraft will be quicker to clear but want to make a big impact on my cc. Keep up the good work M.I.L. xx
:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.00
  • Hi Amber. I did that with a terramindi but then discovered that I could get the money out with a knife :o so it is now empty. I save coins up to 20p and use them every time I get £10 or so to put towards my shopping on a really skint week so it's all good :D. Next year my snowball says that I will pay off 2 credit cards which will leave me with 2 months on my bank loan, 1 card and my overdraft which I will clear the following year. This is so exciting for me. When I started this the snowball said 5 years and I have got it down to under 3 :D and 1 of those has almost gone.
