Well done!! That's a brilliant result on the challenge. And well done for bouncing back after the tax credits disappointment. That's a blow losing the £25. My tax credits have just gone up and it makes me nervous as I know they will say I've been overpaid before long and take them away again.

Good luck in the next 100 day challenge. How do those work? What are the rules, does it have to be £500 over and above what you would normally pay off?
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

  • Thanks Sea.

I think everyone does their own thing on the challenge as some folks pay off thousands . If I went for my normal payments then I could prob say about £2.5k in 100 days ( JEEZO THAT'S A SCARY BUT TRUE FIGURE) but I just put what I want to pay over and above my snowball amount. So my next one will be £550 over and above the £708.50 I snowball every month.

When I read these figures back I just cannot wait to get rid of this debt. What a lot of fun I could have with all that money every month :o:mad:. Was gutted with the tax credits reduction but I am sure I'll get by somehow. I always do :p

  • Just been looking at my snowball again ( as I am wont to do :)) and realised that just using my snowball I will pay off the overdraft anyway within the next 3 months so I will just set my challenge at £500 and squirrel it into my tesco account again.

  • Hi Beccie and welcome. Jelly bean I am glad you are still doing well. It feels good when you achieve goals. Hovel Lady, Yes I am pleased with that. I have a pretty limited amount of cash so I reckon to manage any overpayments is quite an achievement for me but it will all be worth it when I have that £700 plus every month available to me. I will feel truly rich :D.

So it's payday tomorrow. I have £300 extra in my wages so about £500 available all in. I will have to keep some money to supplement losing the tax credits and a couple of hundred for my holiday. Will then buy DS his uniform and I'll be skint again :rotfl:. Juggle, juggle, juggle. Oh well at least I have enough money to pay everything. Some poor souls on here are really in dire straits.

I was sitting earlier looking out into my back garden and one of the first things I am going to do when I have money is get some decking out the back and get my garden levelled out and landscaped. It's only small so wouldn't be that expensive but I would love it to be nice. Then I'll get new gutters. Then central heating. Then new bathroom. Then new kitchen. Then decoration and new furniture everywhere else :rotfl::rotfl:. Hmm my £700 per month will need to be elastic to do all that.

I am being naughty with spends just now and need to reel it in quick smart as I have wasted about £50 now this week and I really need to caw canny so that we can have a nice time whilst we are away. I'm not intending doing any supermarket shopping this week as I want to empty fridge, freezer etc before we go away and I can start afresh when we come back. So I really intend to spend an absolute minimum this next week or so.I'll keep my confessions coming on here but hopefully there will be lots of NSD's :D.

  • Just counted my spends this month. Not bloody good ..
    • Petrol - £120.00- up by £26 this month
    • Food - £351.29 up by £42- school hols so big increase there
    • Social life/ eating out/ takeaways- £123.85 up by £22
    • Clothes £109.00 - up by £79
    • Gifts £31.00 - down by £108 :D
    • Miscellaneous £48.48- down by £26 :D
So most bad and a couple good. C'est la vie. August is a new month.

I've set £200 for food budget as I am not going to count whilst we are away as I will think about how much I need for that week and set a budget to do me for everything. I am thinking £350 for the week but I'll see. I need to pay for the petrol from that too so I may need to allow £400 as I really want us to have fun but not to go absolutely crazy. I'll ponder om it and do my budgets and see where I stand. Off to bed now :)
