  • Hi T didn't see your post last time. It's a bummer having to opt out because of cash but I am not really prepared to borrow just to go out. There are loads of folks I could borrow from but am not going to do it. That's grat you had that conversation with other half. It must have been hanging over you all the time. No doubt it was togh but at least it's all out inthe open now. My ex used to run up debts then sit crying and I would forgive him. Unfortunately he never ever made amy effort to try and change and if I mentioned it I was 'nagging and would never let him forget'. I'm glad you are doing everyhting you can to remedy your debt position as we all are lol. Loads of luck to you xx

  • another wee day off for me today :j:D. Dusted and polished lounge so far but am going to whiz round the house at speed as although I did quite a lot yesterday I actually procrastinated quite a lot :o and didn't achieve anywhere near what I wanted to. The main reason for taking these 2 days off was to catch up and then have the weekend free to just chill, if I procrastinate again today then I will be working about and chasing my tail all weekend.

I am just about to start on the hell hole that is my kitchen. I am going to cook mince and potatoes whilst I am cleaning it and make shepherds pie for dinner tonight. My mum wants that so DS and I will eat it too. I made chicken noodle soup yesterday and it was really nice. I have a portion left for lunch today.

I am going out tonight as I have some money left. I spent £11 in ASDA just buying absolute basics that were needed. I spent £15 on petrol and gave DD £10 towards her dinner dance for school. I have £25 left which I will use tonight. I am not going until about 9pm which means most of the races will be over so I will not need to spend any money on that. Just a couple of soft drinks and my ticket money so I will not spend any more than a tenner. :D. If I end up with some change then I will head to Aldi tomorrow and get some fruit to see us through the week. So it's all good.

Have a good Friday everyone xx

hi MIT - happy friday to you too. Enjoyed reading your diary although rather hungry now lol. I am slowly learning about cooking for more than one meal at once - made beef stew last night and a curry for tonight so thats supper tonight sorted.

I havent been out in ages - too scared to spend any money on myself as I have become addicted to debt busting although it sometimes seems overwhelming.

I know what you mean about having time to yourself as well on days off. I always end up with bits and bobs to do for DS, OH and my mum if I say I have time off! Good idea not to tell anyone. :D

    Have a good weekend.
  • Thanks LAM. It's good to become addicted to debt busting but I am going to be at it for so long I couldn't sustain it at full pelt. I ended up telling everyone I was off as kids realised when I didn't go to work and my mum had called me thinking I was at work and I just couldn't lie to her. I did tell her it was a last minute thing though and was for me to catch up on housework type things and she has not asked me to do anything :o. I feel a bit guilty now.

Ok that's kitchen gutted, hoovered and mopped. Wsahing pretty much up to date. Just about to hoover lounge and halls then mop them. Funny how I can clean this house in a couple of hours when I need to but it has taken me 2 days this time ;).

Sorry about making you hungry :rotfl:. I do love my food and I love cooking it too. I'm sure you have guessed that.

You are right about sustaining it full term - debt busting. I know I need to put myself some money aside and realise that its not going to go away quickly - took a fair few years to get that bad - need to tackle it slowly. I just want to kill the MBNA card which is 34.9 % then will re-organise myself to have a bit of a life too.

    I also love food :D
  • MBNA rates are hell. Mine is 29%. Ihave managed to transfer £1k to Barclaycard at 6.9% so only have just under 1k to pay off of that. It is my next target after Argos. I got a letter from them saying that both my SONY cards and Virgin minimum payments will be going up. I am okay with that actually as it means that at least £25 will come off of balance each month instead of the £5 that has been coming off up until now. They are my highest APR cards anyway so are on the hit list :D.

I spent £22 last night which wasn't too bad for a charity fundraiser. I could have done without it mind you but it was a very good friend who was running it. I haven't spent anything today so that's good. TBH I haven't spent anything today as I only have £3 to my name and will need to buy loo roll tomorrow lol or we will be in trouble. We have food except fruit and veg so I will head to Aldi on Monday and replenish that. Otherwise I am going to try not to shop until Friday if possible. If I shop off of my monthly wage then I end up struggling all month so I want to spend as little as possible from my wage except for bills. I have 1 birthday pressie to get thsi month ( my mm's) and my MOT . Car is 6 yrs old so I am unlikely to get away with needing nothing done again. Not going to worry though until I know one way or another.

I am looking forward to March as my cc and loan debt will go under 20k and I will be really pleased about that.

I hope you are all having a good weekend xx

  • Hi
I am a new girl to this forum....faced facts today £53783. OMG.
MBNA have a lot lot to do with my situation.
Any words of advice are welcome.
I have done all of the necessary - budget planning, debt advice etc but as i can "afford" my min.payment " I am fine." according to the advice........ Well I am not.:-(
  • hi spinlady. You will be fine. Have you punched your figures intot he snowball yet? If not then go to www.whatsthecost.com and that'll give you some idea of how long your debt will take to pay off. Work out your incomings and outgoings on an SOA ( you'll find that on this site) and then play about witht he figures on your snowball and it will motivate you no end. I also write everything I spend in a notebook. The thought of 'confessing' to my notebook always makes me think of whether I need to spend the cash or not. Loads and loads of info on here and loads of support so take heart and fight the good fight:D. Good luck xx

  • Just totalled my February spends and make sinteresting reading. Just shows that I was mega motivated in January and have slipped slightly this month as I have settled down to debt-busting on a long term basis. So spends as follows.

Petrol - £115 ( which is £25 more than last month despite car sharing)
Shopping - £294 (£8 less than last month but didn't include lunches this month)
Miscellaneous- £46.84 (£21 more than last month)
    Lunches £72
Social life £47 ( down by £20 from last month, must be the lack of booze) :D
    Gifts £50

So not so great in the grand scheme of things but I am not going to waste energy on being annoyed, I will just take more care this month and all will be good :p.

  • KMN= Kill me now :p. Spent 2 hours listing on e-bay. Huge challenge for me to keep still that long. Never mind if they sell then I will be happy and the 2hours will be well worth it.

I only lost 1lb this week which is a bit disappointing as I have been really good all week. Really need to start thinking about exercise though as I am sure that would speed things along nicely.

Pay day tomorrow :j. For my personal target I need to pay £40 to Argos so will pay that tomorrow. For my 100 day target unless I do really well on e-bay then I reckon I may have to forego that one. I am still going to get as much as I can paid off from Argos though and the interest does not kick in until June so it's all good as it will be well paid off by then.

Going into my mothers today so that will be nice. Need to take her to the supermarket. I have £6 so I may buy toilet rolls and juice :rotfl:. I am such a mad spender.
