    Hi MIT
well done on the debt busting. hope you are feeling a little better today x
  • Jacci you'll be there in no time and your dfd is before mine so I'll be jealous of you soon :D

LAM I do feel better today but have called in sick for today and tomorrow to give myself a chance to fully recover.

A wee day in the house today. I'll take it easy but catch up with some more washing and try and get it cleared. If I'm up to it I'll iron later. Otherwise a wee day of telly.

my DFD is going to have to be changed though....no more overtime at work unfortunately , that is something I can sit and work out while Im off with the arm!! Enjoy your restful day today...
  • Aww that's a shame. Never mind. So long as it's going in the right direction then that's fine. I got hung up for ages re when my dfd would be and I was getting my knickers in a twist if I didn't manage it. I have now input my current minimums plus £100 per month into my snowball and I will work from that. This way I know that when I overpay then my dfd will get closer. My inspiration is watching my interest go down each month. That's a fab motivator as I begrudge every bloody penny of it

Tell me about MIT!! Still as you say one day we will get there and what a day that will be!!
  • I will definitely have a party that day :j.
Because I have been taking it easy today I have spent most of the day reading a thread on the up ypur income board. It's about folks wanting to be millionaires. I am finding it really inspiring tbh. I have no dreams of becoming a millionaire but I would like to buy my mum's wee flat this year and then save up for a new kitchen and bathroom. Reading that thread has made me all motivated again. I can do this, there really is no limit to what I can achieve. It's only me that limits this.

    So here is my plan.
    1) See how much my mum's flat will cost and see about releasing equity from my house and buy it with my brother ASAP.
    2) Do as many surveys etc in the evenings that I can
    3) do as many cleaning jobs for my pal as I can
    4) Once tax credits finishes for DD in August see about a 2nd job maybe 2 evenings a week or a day at the weekend.
    5) Paint kitchen cupboard doors to freshen them up
    6) start saving for kitchen
    7) start saving for bathroom

Once the kids leave home I have a yearning to buy a flat in a certain area. It needs 2 bedrooms for friends to saty over and possibly future grandchildren but when I sell my house there will be nowhere near enough equity in it to buy one of these flats and I really dont want to use all of my retirement lump sum to buy a flat. In saying that the way public sector pensions are going I'll be lucky to get a lump sum :rotfl:. So if we manage to buy mums flat when she goes ( hopefully a good while yet) then there is a lot of profit to be made. Probably aroung 40k and I would get half of that. I would still need another £20-30k savings though. These flats are lovely though and not many young eejits live there due to the price of them. They overlook the river clyde and the local park and they have high ceilings, bsy windows etc etc. Just my type of place :D. So I now have a goal and that is what I will be working towards. It's a 15 year plan and I would like to be settled there when I am about 60. So onwards, onwards I go.
