  • Shattered again. Went to work today but came home at 3pm. Went to docs to get blood pressure checked and surprise surprise it is high and I am on tablets. I did ask if it could be stress related but doc said no it was in my genes :(. Oh well better to take a tablet than have a stroke :p.

I was a bit anxious earlier as the snow was getting really bad here and hospital is about 20 miles away so I was worried I wouldn't manage to get over to see mum but I called her and she was in tears so I made sure I got there and settled her down a bit. She seems to have a urine infection which they reckon has entered her bloodstream so she has 2 intravenous antibiotics on the go and her steroids have been bumped right up. Hopefully I will see an improvement tomorrow as she was really quite a pathetic wee soul tonight and very childlike. I'm off work now until Tuesday so at least that's one less thing to think about :D.

£140 worth of shopping from ASDA tonight. Struggled to fit it in :rotfl:. That'll keep me going for a few weeks though so that's good. I'll get some butchermeat mid month and buy the fresh stuff as and when required. I've changed my budget for shopping from monthly to yearly. I've given myself £3,000 for the year so I will keep a running total and fingers crossed I manage to spend a whole lot less in Feb as I have spent loads in Jan :o

MIT I have never posted but have read your diary for a while. Whilst I have no words of wisdom or cure, I am reading and thinking of you xx
  • Hi folks. Been away since yesterday morning with friends to the wee cottage that DD and I clean sometimes. Owner let us stay for nothing and we had another wee come dine with me night. I made !!!! a leekie soup and lasagne and my friend made big pot of curry. We had enough food to feed about 15 and there were only 5 of us :o. Was fab though, great food, great company, many many drinks and lots of girly chat. Had a 30 minute walk to the local pub and sat in front of huge log fire and drank cider :D. Only spent £20.

Yukkibear pop in more often everyone's welcome. Thanks for the kind thoughts and words of support. I reckon I will be here many times with my mum before the unthinkable happens but she is well on the mend this time and I will see if I can get her home tomorrow as I am off for the day so it would suit me to get her home and settled before going back to work :).

DS has just learned how to cook bacon and hehas been regaling me with his cooking tales :rotfl:. And you know it is absolutely the best ever roll and bacon he has ever eaten and he is going to cook it again at supper time. Methinks he'll get fed up rather quickly :rotfl:.

DD had friends round last night whilst I was away and although she has attempted to clean up the house is not too braw so I better get on with it :D

  • Wee day off today :D. Going to tidy up and get floors cleaned then head to hospital to see my mum. Turns out that she has had 2 angina attacks over the weekend. She sisn't even mention the first one to the doctors but eventually said when the second one came on. How crazy is that? Why would anyone be siiting in a hospital bed and not mention chest pains?? I seriously despair with her.

I had transferred my MBNA card onto a 0% deal last month but was then charged by them for a returned direct debit. Why would they even try and collect a direct debit when the account was paid off? Eejits :rotfl:. Got the £12 refunded and paid the £8.65 interest and closed the account.
My interest charged each month is £70 less than it was when I started so that is fabulous. I am desperate to et it under £100 per month as I will feel a massive sense of achievement when I get there .

End of the month for me today so I am going to add up my accounts and see how I am doing ag:cool:inst the targets I have set for the year. I'll report back with all the boring details later :rotfl:. Have a great day folks xx

Well no wonder I have struggled as yet again I have been spending as if I am a person who has money . Ridiculous what I hav:eek: spent on food and takeaways this month. That has got to stop immediately or I will never reach my yearly target. Anyway, spends as follows and this year I am going to look at it against my target for the year as well and see if I can manage to keep to them I have deliberately set them really tight so I need to push myself hard.

    Spent Target
    Groceries 422.21  / 3,000
    Miscellaneous 111.76/ 1,300
    Lunches/ fast food 173.39 :eek:/ 800
    Petrol 147.50 / 1,500
    Gifts 30.00 / 700
    Socialising 45.00 / 1,000
    Clothes 61.00 / 1,000
    Holiday 40.00/ 1,000
    Christmas 0.00 / 1,200

Grocery budget is shockingly bad and so is the fast food and lunches one. I did do a massive shop this week so hopefully that'll keep my costs down this month and I will definitely call a halt to the fast food spends immediately as this figure has shocked me :eek:. I have put 0 in for holidays but I am putting £20 away per month for a weekend away for me in August but will count the whole cost at the time. The £40 is what I am paying towards DS's trip to France. He is saving his own money for spends and I will buy his clothes which will eat up most of my clothing target for the year :rotfl:( hysterical laughter).

Anyway, tomorrow is a new pay month for me so onwards and upwards.
