one day at a time.
What a tremendous incentive the interest is.
One day when we are debt free... it will be fabulous!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
You are so right it will be fabulous and I will relish every moment. I will never again spend more than I have available. I don't even know what I spent all the money on but I would bet a pond to a penny I didn't NEED any of it
. I NEEDED my secured loan ( well part of it ) as I re-arranged my bedrooms to squeeze another one in but as for the rest of it I spent it on all sorts of sh*t. Really stupid but a massive lesson learned for me.
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
There is no such thing as learning from your MISTAKES
If you Learn from it its a LESSON.
I think I saw that on a partition in an insurance place.
Pretty correct in my opinion. So we spent money we didnt have, and now we have super scrimping skills.
We are like frugal x-men xTrying to shift that debt!0 -
Hi MIT,
hope your mum is feeling better soon, have been down this path myself and i think that until it happens to you, you dont't realise how tiring it is not only mentally but physically. My mum passed away over 14 years ago and i can remember not wanting to go to the hospital but not being able to settle until i had. it was a vicious circle, but one that many of us do. Just take one day at a time and come on the boards and get things off your chest.
As for spending money like you are rolling in it is something i am guilty of, especially when i have a big payday (which is'nt often). My downfall is chippy tea's on a saturday night at one stage we where having about 3 or 4 amonth each time costing around £15, over a month that was around £60 which is way too much, now back to once a month, if anyone in the family wants another one then they can pay for it.
Keep thinking that this will be the last month i will be owing this much money, next month i will owe a tiny bit less, just realised i have just over a year till i finish my loan which is £310 a month and this money can then go to pay off my CC which will really help, but this year i have decided not to wish the monthes away but to enjoy today, think this is because i'm getting that little bit older and that it will take a little bit of time to clear my debts.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000 -
Hi MIT and friends
Sorry been a bit AWOL - no excuses really! Sorry to hear about your mum - hope she is a bit more comfy now.
The good news is Looonngg January is out the way - try not worry too much about the spending and just move forwards and back on target. I cant really talk as I have been a bit slack lately. x0 -
Amber that's a great way to think of things. Each month it gets less and less. Love it and will adopt that type of positive thinking going forward.
LAM welcome back . I have hated January. I found it a constant struggle. I think with mum being sick it has been really easy to use her as an excuse to just buy take aways, canteen lunches etc but it is just an excuse as it takes very little time to get organised.
Pay day today :j. Managed to pay £100 to mum ( only £300 left) and £177.50 to bank of scotland. I will leave everything else at minimums for the minute.I am pleased at managing that though as it is more than my snowball amount. I paid the £15 back to my Christmas account too. Bought DD 3 tops, DS 2 pairs joggies and I got 3pairs socks today from Primani for the princely sum of £23. I've warned them to leave my new socks alone :rotfl:.
So Hopefully February will be less frantic money wise than January as it is a lot shorter and I hope to be much more organised. I have a weekend away at the end of Feb with the kids but unfortunatey it is 3 days before payday  so I will need to caw canny with my pennies for that. Ok am off to the hospital to see my mum and hopefully she will get out tomorrow5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Aww hope your mam is out today but I know thats a mixed blessing for you with the amount you do for her.
I am on an ebay mission today! boring the pants off myself.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Well if you bore the pants off of yourself you can always sell them
. 1 Pair, hardly worn , I'm sure there will be some sort of market for them :rotfl:.
:jmum's home. She's as weak as water but she is delighted to be home.
Still doing the stupid spending thing and the stupid eating thing. Reall going to try and get it together tomorrow though as I need to keep money this month and want to get on the healthy eating track again ASAP.
Well DD has decided she doesn't want to go to university  bloody children. They drive you nuts dont they. She already has great exam results and will probably get another 2 A's this year and is going to waste them by getting a job and property developing- yeah right get real. She has no grasp on reality. She rekons she will just have instant knowledge and become a property magnate. Oh well . I have warned her tonight that she better get a job as no scroungers in my house as I would just not be having that. So either a job or college but no way will she be sitting on her jacksie living off of the state...... FACT!! In her defense mind you she has 3 part time jobs just now so I doubt she would do that anyway.
I'm shattered tonight as was in mum's this morning to let my aunt in to wait on Virgin putting her v+ box in, was in work by 8.30 through until 6.15, then waited on DS coming from Tae Kwon Do, collected DD from work and eventually home by 8.10.:eek:5 Year plan. Glad mum is feeling better MIT.
My daughter wasn't going until 3 days before lucky she got in at last minute as it at local college but split with uni in Plymouth. Must say though she finding it harder than she thought it working as well. She has just realised that her social life will come second if she wants it to work. I feel sorry for our kids asi don't know what it's like up there but jobs are few and far between down here. Same everywhere expect.ourcoumcil here has shed 300 jobs and you can see howit affects us in the town. Less and less people all the time.
Oh primarni I do like. Our nearest is 35 miles away so only go when need to or waste of petrol;)Mum 30k/29000

Its no wonder you are struggling to keep on track with eating and spending with everything you have on your plate at the mo x. Glad mum is back home - I sure she is happier there.
My son went to uni - and now works full time in the part time job he had during uni - nothing remotely related to what he studied ! But he loves his job and although on a small salary he still lives at home. I dont like what I do but it pays the bills - would love to change direction at some pointbut like Jellybean says jobs are few and far between and so we are lucky to be earning in these times.
