  • Ohhh thats so pretty!

:), I got it in grey which isnt available any more and after many failed attempts at getting a new coat will be keeping this one. Just have to fix all the buttons and hopefully itll be a good 'un, like Charlie-Chan's mines a bit too small - not too much but its pretty, in the sale and better fitting than most.

I have a receipt from New Look, says to retain it for an exchange/refund. Can't see how that can be argued with.

it doesnt matter what the receipt says, as long as you are informed of the revised T&C at the point of sale - now according to NL this is verbally by staff at point of sale, and they also have signs up instore pointing out the fact

as yet, i have still not been able to find any signage instore, and it seems the staff have also failed to tell customers when they pay

tbh, i would be happy with the offer of a credit to a giftcard, as it would give me more time to find something i could exchange my items for, but it seems this isnt allowed either - straight exchange or keep your unwanted items

I was advised of the terms by the sales assistant in the Union Square branch in Aberdeen but not by the one in the Prince's St Mall in Edinburgh. I couldn't see any sign advising me of their change in policy either :undecided

I bought mine in Manchester Arndale, and certainly wasn't told of the new policy.

So I wonder where this puts anyone - a receipt giving a clear instruction and an arbitrary warning by an SA and maybe a hopeful sighting of a sign at a busy till, which everyone has missed. (or, as in most cases, no warning) I will be very interested to know the legal position here.

Thankfully, nothing can interfere with your statutory rights.
  • went to office yesterday and bought a pair of shoes in the sale was informed that no exchange or refund on sale goods and assistant stamped my receipt which read "returns policy explained" so no arguing that i had not been told should i try and return them.

    Just been to NW.
The rule seems to be if you purchased anything before Christmas, sale or not, then it can be refunded. If you bought it in the sale post Christmas, then it is exchange only.

Obviously statutory rights apply, ie they have to refund for faulty items regardless of date of purchase.

well this got even more interesting today

went back to the store today, and found something i would like to exchange my sale items for

however, i had two items i wanted to return, but only one item that i wanted to replace them with. SA said you have to exchange on each item, not on the value of your items. so even though the two items i wanted to return totalled £8 and the item i wanted to exchange them for was £12, this wasnt allowed

now im quite a mild mannered person, but at this i saw red, and must admit flipped a bit. demanded to the see the manager, and thankfully, they agreed 'just this once' to let me do the exchange

i asked to see their refunds T&C - seems there are A4 sized notices, on the wall behind the tills and it does infact state that sale items can only be exchanged. i asked the manager to come and stand public side, and read the notice on the wall out to me, to which she agreed. seems even her youthful eyes couldnt at such a distance, so she then moved all the notices so they were propped up on the tills - whether they stay there or not is another matter

so just another thing to watch out for at NL
