  • i have also had the same treatment from newlook staff, i purchased several sale items and at the time of purchase (yesterday), i asked if i could bring them back for a refund if they were unsuitable. the sales assistant and the assistant on the changing rooms both said this was fine and never mentioned their new returns policy and as there are no signs stating there new returns policy on sales items i assumed this would be the case.
however i have just tried to return my sales items and was told all i could have was an exchange or credit vouchers.
i was NEVER informed of their new returns policy when i purchased the items and im throughly appalled at the way they have rolled out a returns policy without fully informing their customers.
they claim that this policy has been advertised throughout the store for a while however i regularly shop there and was even there on christmas eve, where still there were no signs.
I wont be shopping there again!

  • Maybe they had just tried them on?

I will have to find something to exchange my item with tomorrow in case they don't give me a refund!

you will have no probs with online orders, as they fall under distance selling regs

and yes, i can understand goods that are reduced because they are faulty being non-returnable, espec as the fault is pointed out at the time of sale, but to not be able to return sale items, when there is no signage instore, or the staff didnt point it out, is a bit underhand, espec when the receipt points out you are free to return items for a refund

  • I have to agree it's a bit of a daft time to start rolling out a new returns policy isn't it. I bought a sale item yesterday and wasn't told about only being able to exchange not refund it. The store had no signs to say their policy had changed and the receipt doesn't mention it either. Fair do's, many other stores only offer exchanges on reduced items, but for NL to change it now seems to be making it more difficult for both staff and customers.

I wish I had done that with the coat I had bought in their sales last year. The buttons all popped off! I think I will just Ebay it with the buttons (kept them as they fell off at home).

Surely its easier to just sew the buttons back on and use the coat?

I dont know about Charlie-Chan but thats what Im going to do with a Sale coat I just got from Wallis - almost every button is on the last thread about to fall off and there are a lot of buttons (front and back)! Think I will also send them an email and tell them off, certainly wouldnt keep the coat at full price.

It is easier but it is slightly too small for me too.

I will give it a crack, thank you for reminding me Pullip :)
