Also my £17.84 Tesco dvd player won't play dvd RAMs, so I have a similar problem with that!
If it's a Panasonic player it's likely to already pklay DVD-R aswell as DVD-RAM (DVD+R is only on certain Panasonic models I think though could be wrong)
The Tesco player is a non starter though, won't be able to change that0 -

Durabrand DVD Player - Model No DVD-2005. DVD +R/RW Playback, DVD -R/RW Playback, MP3 Playback, View Digital Photos, CD&CD-RW/RW Playback, AV Socket, Scart Socket.
I think this is multiregion or capable of it but I can't remember
From Malcolm:
Just purchased the Durabrand DVD2005 from ASDA, thanks for info from this 'string'. According to the instructions it is Region 2. I have now set it up: played a Region 1 DVD, ok - even though the instructions says its Region2 as well! It also says it plays DVD-R but it also plays DVD+R including my own recorded from TV on my other DVD recorder. In case yours is not multi-region ... Just found a site (FREE, other sites charge between £5 and £10 or more) which offers the crack to make it Region 0 (region free, all regions). The site is:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?dvdplayer=Durabrand+DVD-2005&hits=50&Search=Search
This is the info but....
Read ALL the info below:
Durabrand DVD2005 :
Turn the DVD on
Open the lid
Press 'Stop' on the remote
Then 734466
You will now be in the setup menu.
Use the right arrow to open the Region Options and select '0' for region free.
Hi tried the above hack and it didnt work. tried this one and found myself in the right menu. Before you try, check if its already set to multi region. the one I bought in Sainsbury was
1. Press the Open button on your DVD player to open the drive lid
2. Press the Stop button on your remote control
3. Press the 2 button on your remote control
4. Press the 3 button on your remote control
5. Press the 7 button on your remote control
6. Press the 9 button on your remote control
7. You should now be able to change the region using the Up and Down buttons on your remote control to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback
8. Close the drive lid on your DVD player
9. Press the Standby button on your DVD player0 -

I've read of cases where someone's tried to remove a cheapo cable from their dvd player only for it to fall to pieces and leave pins stuck irretrievably in the player's scart socket - effectively writing off the whole dvd player.
I'd be a bit careful myself...0 -

Thank you for this. In case anyone else spends hours scratching their heads, the "Next" button is the fast forward one!
