Sub £20 Multi-region DVD player
Comments

Last year I bought a £19 compact flip top dvd player from Asda and not only was it region free but it also plays MP3 CD's and DVD's (also known as jukebox dvd's) and CD+G Karaoke discs.
One year on, it's still the best player in the house and asda are selling them again, for less!
It doesn't say anything on the box about region free CD+G or MP3 but mine does it all!
I'm convinced that if I put a biscuit in the drive it'll play it and show me a film about growing wheat!
And with ASDA's great return policy theres nothing to lose.0 -
Does anyone know of any decent recordable dvd players at a reasonable price?0

oh please.
Whens the last time anyone actually had a non-region 2 DVD? Most UK residents will never come across one in their lives.0 -
Bought 2 Compacks players from Safeway and both went belly up in a short space of time, plus I was unable to find the unlock code to make them multi-region. Depending on the year of manufacture, they were/are made in Taiwan or China.
Also bought an mp3 player in Tesco for £20 - menu didn't work, so ordering tracks was difficult.
You get what you pay for if you buy Chinese in my experience.0 -

Last week actually when I accidently ordered the wrong one. I brought Madagascar for my little boy's birthday and he was very upset when it wouldn't play. Luckily I had a cheap DVD that I use for work and managed to unlock it using a code found using a internet search. Quick and easy to do. Disaster diverted and one happy birthday boy.
Unfortunately can't find a code for my DVD recorder only a chipped remote for £25 that will unlock it.0 -

I had two delivered from Canada last week. You can get titles months before they're released here, and often at a bargain price, if you know where to look.
I'd beware of the Amazon/Compacks machine, too. We had one for a few months and then it just stopped recognising discs. Amazon took it back and gave us a full refund, and we bought a Pioneer one which has been perfect.
Asda's Pacific 1002 machine has received lots of good reviews, too.0 -
