Bonnell open coil springs are the most resilient mattress springs you will find.
They might be the most resilient, but they are also the least supportive!0 -

£479 plus free delivery.0 -

They are no less supportive than reflex foam. And the continuous spring system is only slightly more supportive (until it fails). But what is the point in paying far more money for a mattress that is only slightly more supportive, but is very unreliable, when you can get a pocket srung mattress for the same price (which are far more supportive)?0 -

For what size?
By the way, you don't get free delivery from anyone. It has to be paid for, so they just include it in the price, it's not free.0 -

That is very expensive for what is just a fairly decent quality pocket sprung mattress.0 -

It looks like a nice mattress. For comparison I've seen this one for £345 which lacks the hand side stitching but has the same spring count and same fillings of polyester, cotton and wool. Obviously it's impossible to compare like for like without knowing the exact thickness, weight, quality etc of the fillings, but it's a similar spec for considerably less.

This is the problem with mattresses. Most consumers can't tell the difference between a really good quality mattress, and a low to middle range one, because the list of components may sound very similar. The Burgess mattress is actually far higher quality than the Highgrove one. The first give away that Highgrove use lower quality fillings is the reflex foam insulator pad. Reflex foam will start to break down in time as the bubbles start to burst. I'm sure you have all seen old reflex foam when it starts to turn to crumbs when it gets old. The wool cotton blend pad used in the Highgrove is probably a very thin layer that is there just so that they can include it in the component list. It is actually quite common for bed manufacturers to include things like mohair, silk, cashmere, hemp, coconut, aloe, silver and even milk etc.. in their component list for a mattress, but in many cases the actual quantities used are so small that they don't actually make any difference to the comfort or support of the mattress.
Out of the two the Burgess even at it's very high price, is probably just as good if not better value for money.0 -

The main reason people can't tell the difference is because the components are never specified in detail so we can't compare like for like. Unfortunately you're as guilty of that as any other retailer so I'll take your comments with a large dose of salt. I had a look on your site for a comparable 1500 PS mattress and the LR Charlotte that you sell for £393 is described as having "cotton, felt and other luxury fillings", which hardly helps distinguish it from the Burgess or the Highgrove.0 -

I didn't mention anything from my site. I was giving you a comparrison between the two mattresses that were mentioned.
I don't know where you got a price of £393 from, because that is way out. Or it isn't from my site.
If anyone wants to know exactly what is inside any products that I sell, then I will tell you or I will find out for you. The problem with listing all of the components is that most people don't have a clue what they actually mean. So to list all the exact components would just confuse people, and would be trying to baffle people with science (which is what I was talking about in my previous post). I could come out with loads of fancy terms to make my mattresses sound better than anyone elses, but that would be using sales hype, which I hate. If I were to list all the exact components and quantities , then you would be none the wiser.
So it is best to actually contact the seller and ask them. Otherwise there is no way of knowing what is good and what is low quality.0
