In the spirit of moneysaving it would be good if you could say where! I've seen them a little bit cheaper at Bedkingdom but they don't offer any return policy (over and above DSR) so it probably evens out.

Yes it is bedkingdom. I didn't want to post the name, as tim can't post his company and did not want to upset him but I think he already is. Will post it next time.

As a customer, I will shop round, to find the best deals. If that means saving money, then thats what I will do.

It may well even out but no harm in looking around. If Bedkingdom don't comply with DSR, then they can be reported.

I just meant that the returns policy offered by Tim's company goes beyond the requirements of DSR and that this additional level of service may be worth an extra few quid, YMMV.

If you want the hassle of taking another day off from work to get a mattress replaced. Then Tim's the man.

Or you could go into a shop and try them, or is that a little old fashioned?

We are running the risk of losing the high street, do we just want supermarkets!

  • Hi Walkon
Agree with Orrin. The peace of mind offered by Tim sold it for me. I cannot tell you how many sites I trawled and called. No one answered their phones. Bedkingdom were good mind you, their online assistant Ashley, I think, was helpful, even online at 1am. There was one site with fabulous information, much like that given by Tim, but the two numbers they gave were never answered and I tell you I tried on many occasions.

Originally I had started off thinking that I would buy something orthopaedic worth c.£500 half price in the sales, and I would more than likely have bought that from anyone. However, as my budget increased I decided that anyone who was prepared to be accountable was worth a shot. Had it not been Tim it would probably have been John Lewis. More than anything I wanted to get this purchase right, and once I had agreed this with myself (and it took a while) the differential became academic.

Mine came within 15 minutes of the time quoted and it was after working hours. Possibly the best delivery ever:T

The replacement mattress? or the original?

Not everyone wants the hassle of lugging the old matt down stairs, swap it over with delivery driver, lugg new matt upstairs, put the sheets back on etc....

That's why these people that offer replacement do so, because they know full well that most people can't be bothered. It's too much hassle. I bet Tim's replacement is under 1%, now he will say thats down to good selling and listerning to the customer, but I bet in truth it's down to the "I can't be bothered factor!"

You can't buy a mattress online without "knowing" what it feels like.

Firm?, just how firm is firm, floor firm. What about soft? How soft is soft? etc.......

It's self-evident that buying a mattress online doesn't allow you to try it first. That's the whole point of DSR and why some online retailers offer an additional refund or replacement service.

It can certainly be inconvenient to return a product, but that should factor into any decision to purchase online. Customers need to judge for themselves if the potential savings they can make online vs the high street are worth this risk.
