Ease myself into it with some yoga, hula hoop, boxing and balance games for a couple of weeks then start the Sports Active. I looked at the Sports Active and I'm fairly confident I would do myself damage if I started that first :o
Good call, as I think I've done just that... :o I forgot to put my trainers on after finishing half an hour on the Wii Fit, went straight into Sports Active, and now my right thigh has a muscle twinge that just won't go away - suspect it's a mild strain. So I'm going to have to take it easy for a few days, or at least only do upper body excercises. D'oh!

Still, did half an hour on both the Wii Fit and Active Sports last night, which isn't too shabby, and I'll not feel guilty about sticking to some gentle Wii-Fitting for a bit ;)

Isn't reducing calorie intake a lot easier than getting getting a Wii and remembering/bothering to use it regularly for ever more?

I think it depends on individual reasons. Some people want to lose weight and tone up, you won't do both with just dropping some calories. Maybe they don't feel comfortable going to the gym or like me can't afford it.

In my case once I get started I actually enjoy it and look forward to exercise. When I exercise I eat better and crave healthier food options. Losing the weight/toning up/feeling healthier/having more energy are enough reasons for me to keep going.

I didn't really stop because I forgot or couldn't be bothered but had some stressful stuff going on and other things took my time.

Thats just my opinion though, everyones different and willpower can be peoples enemy, and I completely sypmathise with that.
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.

Good eating habits plus regular exercise is a far more effective weight loss/health regime than just reducing what you eat. The exercising could be anything at all, not just a Wii, but the Wii is the method of choice for those in this thread. :)

In my case, my diet is pretty reasonable and I'm not overweight, I just haven't been getting enough exercise for various reasons, and I want to me a good bit fitter. I already had a Wii (bought for me as a 'big' birthday present) and EA Active Sports, and I got the Wii Fit to complement it as I have played it at a friends and enjoyed it. This works for me as I'm a techno-geek anyway, and it also gives me goals and challenges to work towards. Other people prefer to do other things - horses for courses and all that.

  • Managed to catch up with ep1 of Biggest Loser. I'm hooked already:)
Was concerned that they tend to throw them in at the deep end, can that be good for the heart?

I was a bit concerned about that too, they really do throw them in the deep end and seeing as a couple of them collapsed and had to wear masks it really can't be good to push yourself so much, straight away when your so overweight. I wouldn't be able to survive the exercises they were doing and I'm 9.2 stone!

I haven't been on my wii fit for almost a week, I have been lazy and feel bad because I was doing so well before! Need to get back on it tonight.

I haven't tried the free step yet, might give that one a go. Do you ust make it up as you go along while your watching tv?
You can pick the speed you step at and you hold the wii in your hand or pocket and it ticks along so you know when to step on the board. It doesn't tell you where to step, I just create my own little routine stepping backwards/forwards/sideways etc as I go along!

I only have the wii fit and it's getting a bit boring, what would everyone recommend, biggest loser or the ea sports, or is my fitness coach any good?

    Hi berrybabe

I've got the Wii Fit, Sports Active, Sports Active More Workouts and Your Shape. The one I keep coming back to is the More Workouts, it varies the exercises, lets you customise, has a 9 week challenge etc. It's the best one I've found so far. It's less than £7 at Amazon but you would need to buy the accessory pack (leg strat and useless resistance band). It also makes use of the balance board for some exercises if you have one.
  • That's 4 days out of 5 for me. Did 53 minutes and burnt 262 calories which gives me enough to have a couple of vodka's tonight:j

well I didn't really get on the Wii last night as we ended up going out for dinner, but I did managed to get on it for 15mins or so at lunchtime. Have to say I was looking in the mirror earlier and Im sure Ive shrunk around my stomach very slightly - can't be sure as I never measured, wish I had now, could just be wishful thinking of course....

Ordered a fitness dvd too now which should come soon so hoping for a more varied workout - although the Wii fit is still my biggest source of motivation, I love being able to see how many calories Im burning off etc...
